Hey, so I don’t need glasses, had my eyes checked last year, and they are perfect BUT I do have a question for any optometrist bees:
How much damage can reflected, direct sunlight into your eyes, from 10am-12pm, do to your eyes?
While in grad school, I am currently working in the beverage/food service, at a location w/a drive thru. It faces the rising sun in the morning. The ledge outside the window is stainless steel, and reflects the bright midday sun right into my eyes. It hurts like a bitch. I am not allowed to wear eye protection.
Today it was especially bad, not a cloud in the sky, and I am VERY short, so my face is right above the ledge and there is no distance for the light to disperse. My coworkers and manager (all taller) seem to think it’s no big deal, and that I’m whiny.
I legit get headaches every time I am forced to work DT at those hours. And today my eyes still hurt and are watery 5 hours later!
Should I try to get an eye doctor’s note for special permission to wear sunglasses?
