Starting a new thread because it looks like all the Savannah wedding posts I’ve come across are a few years old! I’d love share tips/vendors/ideas with any other Savannah brides!
Our wedding is set for August 8, 2015. So far I have the following taken care of:
Ceremony venue: Whitefield Chapel
Reception venue: Olde Pink House
Photographer: Rach Lea Photography
Hotel block: Hampton Inn – Historic District
Next on my list is locking in the band, figuring out hair/makeup, and booking transportation from hotel to ceremony, and ceremony back to reception.
I am planning the wedding from Atlanta, so it is a “destination” wedding for us, and the majority of our wedding guests will be traveling from NJ/NY area.
I would love to hear what other Savannah brides are planning on doing for the day-of: Where are you getting ready? Who is doing bridal/bridesmaid hair/make-up? Where are you and your husband (!) going to stay the night of the wedding?

cmtj331: Hi, I am getting married in Savannah in July at the Olde Pink House as well! I was curious though, they told us we HAD to use a DJ & not a band.

Oh wow – I’m not getting married in Savannah, but I know it well, and I love the thought of a reception at the Olde Pink House! I’m almost jealous. 🙂

- Wedding: October 2014 - Savannah, GA
cmtj331: I just got married in October and my wedding was in Savannah. I also planned our wedding from Atlanta and had the ceremony at Whitefield Chapel. Everything turned out beautifully. Have fun planning and try not to stress!

cmtj331 I just had a friend get married in Savannah in October. She lived in Columbia, so she had like a destination wedding as well. She had alot of family coming from Oregon. She actually ended up hiring a wedding planner and she stated it saved her budget and her sanity. LoL!! She got married in Forsyth Park and reception at The Westin!! Her wedding planner was Avila Dawn Events. http://www.aviladawnevents.com Maybe you should check them out. Hope this helps. Savannah is so gorgeous!

2015Bridebee: Uh oh. Who are you working with at the OPH? We met with Bianca back in October which was when we set the date. She said we could do band or DJ. When we told her we were going to do a band she literally said “Rock on!” LOL I hope she wasn’t lying to me…Are you using the grand ballroom upstairs?
MelissainNC: Thank you! We are very excited. I just love Savannah!
CallMeMrsG: Ha, the pressure is on! One of the reasons I wanted to get married in Savannah was because the city itself is so beautiful. The live oak trees and spanish moss still get me everytime! I will make sure I keep my fellow bees updated on my plans
dancindavinci: Great to hear!! Did you transport your guests to and from the chapel? I am in the process of working on transportation now…I would love to do the trolleys, but I have heard that most of them aren’t air conditioned and since we chose one of the hottest months of the year, I’m not sure I want to subject my guests to that kind of torture 😉
jdawntelled: Thanks for the tip! I will most likely be using a planner for the week of.

We’ve been talking with a Pamela but yes we rented the ballroom & study. She told us we’d have to book the downstairs too if we wanted a band due to the sound. Or we could just rent a DJ. I originally wanted a band & have had a hard time getting used to the DJ idea. I might contact her tomorrow & double check then!

2015Bridebee: Maybe it has something to do with the months? I know August is considered non-peak. Let me know what you find out!

I’m getting married in April 2016 and am considering the Old Pink House. Sorry I don’t have much to add, just started planning this week, but wanted to hear more details! I live in Savannah but basically none of my guests do.
