So I finally had my first fitting today, which was really just going over ideas and the dressmaker taking my measurements, but I finally have a picture of a sketch to drool over! And I’ll be limited to that for a while, because they’re changing locations, so I can’t try on the muslin until February, shucks. So in the mean time… anyone else in the same boat, or was or might be? I’d love to see any other custom bee’s sketches and any other pics from the process, including finished results!

Just me? Shucks…
Btw, there’ll also be sparkly beading on the neckline π

Is that a ruching bodice on a ruffle ballgown?

@futuremrsk18: The bodice is all ruching (in some sort of sheer fabric like organza, haven’t picked it out yet) but it’ll be fitted to my hips and not particularly poufy, so not really a ballgown, and not ruffles.
This, minus the flowers, is my inspiration for the fabric for the skirt:

@cateyes: How cool! I wish I had the skills to make my own dress lol. Do you have any pics yet?

@ladyamalthea: here’s my sketch, sry for the bad picture but I have only the one from my phone…. obviously we’re having a peacock theme ^-^ the skirt will be a big poofy mass of tull

I also have to wait until february, my mom’s gonna make it for me….
the fabric is really gorgeous! have you decided on a colour yet?

@ladyamalthea: Gorgeous dress! I love that corset back & the off-shoulder sleeves, so romantic! Here’s my sketch and finished product- I have to say it was an amazing process seeing it all come together!

@ladyamalthea: haha, nope! i’m supposed to have a professional corset maker draft the pattern for the top and fit it to me, then i’ll make it. (little daunting! i haven’t done those techniques before!)
it’s going to be a mashup of these two dresses (body of the oyster silk one, in white dupioni with the polka dot overlay)

with bodice and skirt separate so i can wear it more like this if i want:

@chibi: That’s gorgeous, so unique! I especially love the keyhole back. π I just want white or maybe ivory, whatever I find the right fabric in π And maybe silver/gray for the corset ribbon. How do you want to do the colors for yours?
@BeckyS0: Beautiful! I love both purple and polka dots π Thanks for posting, it’s really nice to see how the sketch compares.
@cateyes: Ooh pretty! I love that style of top, I have a couple shirts that are similar. It makes sense though that you’d want someone with a lot of experience to make the corset pattern, I know how precise those can be! But I believe in your ability to construct it, and I can’t wait to see the final result!

@ladyamalthea: thank you so much!!! ^-^ the keyhole is also my favourite part..
I think I’ll go ivory… I tried on some white dresses which looked awesome, but I was really tanned then and I think I won’t manage that in May π I also want an ombre pink petticoat underneath going from hot pink around the legs to blush… (only to be seen when sitting, something like that) but my mom’s against it -_-‘
btw: definitely love the idea with the silver ribbon! it’s very special!!!

@chibi: Aww I love fun petticoats, I hope you can convince her it’ll mostly be subtle and it’ll make you extra happy! But other than that, is it an all one color concept? I imagined the feathers as being fabric in various peacock colors or something.

@ladyamalthea: I wanted to do peacock-coloured feathers first but I’m just not that flashy. plus, SO likes dresses r-e-a-l-l-y simple……^-^ not sure though if I’m not using peacock coloured rhinestones for accents.. like these
(image doesn’t do them credit)
