Used to show quarter horses, I haven’t ridden in probably 15 years, miss it so much! Can’t wait to get my daughter involved in it- she has just started to take an interest in it, she’s only 5.

I am super lucky and not only Love horses but my other half does as well! I used to ride as a pro and showed and trained jumpers for Spruce Meadows until I had a career ending accident that forsed me out of the saddle for a few years. I now have my own small buiness training hunters/ jumpers and giving lessons. My other half ropes and we are lucky our son is already wanting to follow in daddys foot steps at 2.5 years old!

I am def a horsey person. Been riding for several years now and have a Tennessee Waking Horse. We mostly do trails and barrels, but I would like to do some Western Pleasure showing with her this year and my trainer is pushing me to do some extreme trail competitions with her

Firemansgirl: I grew up showing hunters and equitation, mostly ponies until I aged out because I’m small and I love the little….(insert word of choice here). I rode for a year in college, but I’ve been out of it for a couple of years now because of work/finances/etc., but I am graduating this year and hopefully I will have the finances to at least take some lessons again in a year or two! You can take the horse away, but I’ll be a “horsey bee” for life!

aussie_25:  I am a big gaited fan, but I am really considering my next being an Arab cross of some kind. I have several friends who swear by them… and I’m just a sucker for horses in general. I love TWH’s and Morgans, so it would be hard to pull myself away from them.

Oh boy, I want to play!

I always wanted to learn how to ride horses as a kid but didn’t get the opportunity until recently. My SO and I take lessons together because we want to purchase a property with some land to let us keep horses. We only want two for now, so that helps us feel a little better about the costs while we’re saving money. We’ve made good friends with our instructor, and after I told her what I do as a professional writer, we worked out a trade where I handle her blogging and social media for her training business in exchange for free lessons! I’m trying to learn as much as I can now so I’ll be a responsible horse owner one day 🙂

This is me on my instructor’s quarter horse mare, Sneakers. SO and I are actually training for our first competition later in February, which is a ranch pleasure/trail obstacle competition. We both have a LOT of work still to do because I’m just now learning to lope, and Sneakers has what my instructor calls “Red Mare Syndrome,” haha! She can be a little grumpy at times, but you can see here that I got her to the top of a hill and chilled out for a while for some photos.

Mrs_Amanda:  You should go look at a few arab crosses. I love them cause they just go and go and go…..they will go anywhere and all the ones I’ve had are very hardy horses, are good doers and recovery so quickly from injuries.

I have two quarter horse mares. Dee(pictured) is the one I ride. She previously did western pleasure and halter shows. She was a gift from my boyfriends uncle. This was the day I was surprised with her before we brought her home. My other mare Belle is more of a “pasture ornament” since she is getting a swayed back. I would love to get  into mounted archery or mounted shooting. I’m an avid hunter and I would love to combine my love of guns and bows with my equine love. On a sound horse of course!
