It holds 130.  Its a pretty nice building.

We got some good rates at the Sierra Hotel – they are maybe 10% less than normal – so not great, but I think it is pretty reasonable.  I think the hotel is now sold out the night of our wedding so make sure to get a block and have your guests reserve early if it will be a popular weekend!

Also make sure to check the schedule for West Point graduation if you are thinking May because the hotels are impossible then!

Yep.  They are much more expensive than I thought they were – probably because of gas.  But I just don’t feel comfortable having an open bar and then having guests drive home on dark windy roads.

BTW, the Garrison holds up to 220 I think if you want to check it out.  Todd is the new event manager there and he is really fabulous.  And the food and view are amazing!

I’m getting married at The Garrison this September.  So far Todd has been great with everything!  Let me know if you have any questions.

If anyone else needs a recommendation for a photographer you should check out Steven Planck. His studio is based out of Wappingers, but he travels nationwide.

He’s really easygoing and his pictures are AMAZING!

Hi ladies!

I am recently engaged and am looking at a hudson valley wedding (currently live in new york but def. want an outdoor wedding in the mountains)

I just fell in love with Cat Rock and am going to plan a visit…

Farley778 – are the folks at Cat Rock easy to work with?  We are planning a small event and have a tight budget but are going to try to make it work. I would appreciate any and all advise!

I don’t know about Cat Rock, but a friend got married at Opus 40 near woodstock. It was a really cool place. You have to put up a tent and have a caterer though.

I am getting married at apple barn farm in hudson in May. I’m having an outdoor wedding with the reception afterward in the barn. It is on an apple orchard. We visited in the fall and it was beautiful. The ladies who run it also have two other options for smaller venues as well.

Hi there, I’m a bride from Dutchess County, getting married in May at Christos in POKI.

I also facilitate a wedding blog called the Vow Factor that is associated with the Poughkeepsie Journal, http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/vowfactor

I sorta stole the idea of a community wedding blog from the weddingbee, but it’s very LOCAL, local vendors and couples.

Happy planning!
