- Wedding: March 2010 - Calamigos Ranch
I gained 10 pounds in a WEEK on our honeymoon! I’ve never gained weight like that before (even as a college freshman I LOST weight because I hated dorm food, and I had never been outside of a few-pound range for pretty much my whole adult life, so it was a huge change).
I think a couple of pounds was probably fine since I was a little lower than I was used to at the wedding, but 10? In a week?! So I had to start working out again. I lost it in about a month, but I can see how it’s easier to put on weight now… I don’t have time to work out anymore! I hate watching what I eat. :-/ And I’m not very good at it. Since I started my new job I’ve put some of the weight back on, and it’s REALLY hard to get motivated to lose it again.

I think I have you all beat. I gained THIRTY. POUNDS. in less than six months after our wedding. Granted, I had practically starved myself prior to the wedding and was probably 5-10 pounds under my ideal weight. And then I just went NUTS on food after the wedding. I made pasta with cream sauces every night, ate half a pack of Oreos a day and had Cold Stone four times a week. I am not exaggerating. If it were alcohol and not food, I would have been on the show Intervention! I had to get all new clothes because I went up 3 sizes. It was kind of insane.
Now, I am trying to lose weight slowly and healthily rather than dieting the way I did before the wedding. I’m counting calories and cooking healthier but nothing drastic so I will probably not be back to a healthy weight for a while. It’s amazing how much damage you can do in a short time and then how hard it is to fix it!

I have a friend that gained like 5 lbs at her honeymoon (she is really skinny so to her that is a lot)… she said it was because she felt like she didn’t have to watch herself as closely anymore since they are married now *shrugs*

Six months after the wedding and I’m up 10-15 pounds. But I blame it on the fact that I started law school, so now I spend a HUGE portion of my days sitting down reading law books. I’m just not active like I used to be!

Well I’m not married quite yet but I did gain weight when I moved in with my fiance a couple years ago. I had earlier that year worked very hard and lost about 40 lbs. I’m probably 50lbs heavier then that time. =(

Me too! I was so close to my ideal weight when we got married but I’ve gained about 10 pounds since then 🙁 DH and I keep saying we’re going to go to the gym and start eating healthier and we really need to stick to that!

both my husband and i have gained weight since the wedding. before our wedding, we were very careful about what we ate and we were working out with a trainer. now we’re both back in grad school (we took a quarter off leading to the wedding) and just have no time to do anything anymore. we’ve decided to start working out in the mornings so we can take the weight off again. it sucks that it’s so hard to lose weight but so easy to put it on!

Yup! We both put on about 10 lbs since our April 2010 wedding.
I guess they call it "happy chub". I feel like we’ve been on our honeymoon ever since.
I had gained 10 lbs back when we first moved in together as well. We were having so much fun living together and making dinner together every night (always with a side of wine).
Before the wedding, I went back on WW and lost the 10 lbs. The biggest thing for me to lost that weight was really watching my alcohol intake. And I have been letting myself have plenty of wine whenever I want since the wedding.
But 10 is my limit! I am back on WW again. Working out. Cutting back on alcohol. Boo.

@daniellemybelle – You and I are in the same boat – your post could have been written by me!!
DH and I are going on a cruise in a week and have decided to let ourselves do whatever we want while on vacation – but after that I HAVE to get this weight off. We’ll be TTC at somepoint this year and I don’t want to start a pregnancy 30lbs over my goal!!!

5 months after the wedding and we are both 15lbs heavier!!!! UGH!
He is at his goal weight now but it’s not the right type of weight 😉 And I obviously do NOT want to be 15lbs heavier!
We both got back on the p90X wagon this past monday. Motivation for me was I got asked to be in a wedding in September and I do not want to order anything larger than my wedding dress!!!!

Yeah, I gained weight- but only because I just had a surgery (I know, you are supposed to LOSE weight with surgery, right?) It stinks though, I have to lay around and recovery, but eat… I know I will take it off once I am recovered though!
For me, being married makes me want to watch myself and care for myself even more. I want to feel like I still have it, like I am a hot wife he can be proud of, not like I let myself go. But right now, I am all puffy from surgery. I was looking at the baby bump pics today, and thinking, hmm, I look like some of these lovely ladies and I am not even pregnant! For the most part, I have been taking better care of myself since getting engaged and married, but it is nice to be settled down and know he loves me at any weight. Now for this surgery weight gain… please disappear!

I kept my same weight for about 6 months after the wedding. Now, after a year and a half since the wedding, I’ve gained about 10 pounds. I don’t mind being this weight but I don’t want to gain anymore, so I’ve started to go back to the gym so I can maintain this weight.
ETA: What’s funny is that I’ve been trying to gain weight for 5 years now and finally started. It’s either being married or getting older. 😉
Oh, DH gained a lot about 30 pounds but that was due to some health issues he had last year. His health is better so he’s going back to the gym.

I lost 31 pounds by the time the wedding rolled around. I have gained it all back and then some probably in the last 14 months. For some reason I was not a stress eater when it came to the wedding. Buying a house, on the other hand, was a completely different story.

I think most of mine just came from not being able to keep up with what I was doing to get ready for the wedding. I was working out non-stop leading up to it and for the last two months prior to the wedding my dinner was 2 eggs sandwiches. Now that I’m married, I want to make dinner for my husband instead of just grabbing something quick. But I need to stop eating EVERYTHING I wasn’t allowing myself to have before the wedding…
