ugh, me!  I have gained 9 lbs since the wedding – but probably just need to lose 5 since I lost a little before the wedding.  I’m only 5’2 though so it is really noticeable : (

OMG – I think this is my favorite thread of all time.  I was feeling like a post-wedding freak show.  I recall reading threads about post-wedding weight and I vowed it would never be me.  HA!

I was busy losing weight with the wedding in mind and I reached my goal weight and lost 40 pounds for the wedding.  But, then enter the honeymoon.  Wine and cheese receptions at the hotel, going out to eat for every meal, eating things I hadn’t touched in MONTHS.

Enter 10 pounds by the time we got back from our honeymoon.  Then, it was time for the holidays and lots of treats at every corner.  Before I knew it, I was 18 pounds heavier.

I started a fitness challenge on Jan 3rd and went back to a strict diet and exercise plan.  I took off 10 pounds pretty quick, but have been struggling with the last 8.  I seriously can’t figure out how I lost it so consistently for the wedding but am having a harder time now.  I actually think my eating is BETTER than pre-wedding, which doesn’t help my frustration in why those last 8 pounds won’t budge.

It’s so easy to gain weight and so difficult to take it off!!!

I have struggled with my weight my entire life – my current motivation is to be a healthy partner for my husband.  As trite as that sounds, it’s the only thing that keeps me going.  I feel like I committed to honor our relationship and staying healthy is a way to do that.  I know that I can easily pack on pounds and committing to diet and exercise is the only way to achieve that.  I just wish I’d see some results on the scale that match my effort!  It’s mind-numbingly frustrating!

Yes! Ugh. We were so confident we wouldn’t [which is why we registered for a scale!] but post newlywed holidays we’re both up about ten. Eeek.

We’re off on a cruise in early April and I just purchased Jillian’s Six Week Six Pack…and am at least hoping it takes a little off my middle!

I haven’t but my husband has.  He’s in the living room right now eating an Italian Ice, the first of many of his evening t.v. watching snacks. Uh oh, I the spoon clinking which means it time for another kitchen forage…

I put on a solid 10 pounds post wedding, and we’re just about nearing our 6 month mark.

I don’t think I’m overweight, but this is the most I’ve weighed on a scale since 2006. Needless to say, I am on a bikram kick and and carefully watching my portions during mealtime.

We are cruising in less than 60 days and I need to shed those 10 pounds!

Today is our first anniversary and between the two of us we’ve gained 100 pounds! He was having health issues and had surgery, so now he feels better and needed to gain the weight. And I’m pregnant, but started gaining before that.

At the wedding….

And now. (We took a weekend trip to where we got married for our anniversary).

Has gaining weight after the wedding effected your timeline for when to have kids? My DH are talking about TTC, but I’m afraid to do it before I lose some of this weight. I’m 20-25 lbs over what I want to be at before I get pregnant, but I don’t know how long it would take me to lose it since I’m not very good at being “good”. I keep going back and forth on whether 20 lbs is a good enough reason to delay TTC. My fear though, is that if we do get pregnant and I’m already over my goal I’m gonna be miserable feeling fat during the whole pregancy. Have any of you had the same worries?

@Tisty1982: I gained weight due to a pregnancy, and then I miscarried. I had that same thought, I’d like to lose the weight before I get pregnant again. But for me I decided it was more important to have a baby then to look good doing it. I dieted until I got pregnant again, which only ended up being a month. I’m so happy with my decision. While I do hate feeling fat sometimes, I know it will be worth it in the end and I can always try super hard to lose the weight after the baby is here.

Thanks for this thread! It’s good to know that I’m not alone.

I even wrote a little bit about my experience on my blog.

I have gained 7 pounds fluctuates to 10 even since I’ve gotten married, I used to be 109 and I’m short so even a few pounds are a big deal, some of my dresses are too tight my hubby also would hold his tummy and say to me look what being married did to me I enjoy your cooking so  much

I think it’s because we cook meals for each other everyday so we really enjoy our meals with each other; all part of wedded bliss comes the pounds!

My husband has dropped about 12 pounds because I cook really healthy and we don’t buy all of the processed junk he used to eat when he lived by himself.  He also said that I’ve taught him about portion control, which I guess helps too.  I gained maybe 5-7 pounds and now I’m losing it.  I’ve lost around 6 so far!

Um, yes!

I don’t even know how/when it happened, but suddenly some of my clothes stopped fitting! I would guess that I gained about 10 lbs (I don’t own a scale) in the three months following the wedding. I think it was due to a combination of: slacking off at the gym (I think I thought I should reward myself for working out so diligently pre-wedding?), being unemployed and out of a normal routine for the two months following the wedding (which also meant that I wasn’t wearing my normal work clothes, so didn’t even notice that they didn’t fit anymore), and packing on some serious poundage over Christmas.

I’ve been working diligently over the past couple months to get the weight off and I’m starting to see results. My skinny jeans that fit just fine a year ago are still tight though, so there is still work to be done!

DH gained a little weight too but, of course, promptly lost it (and then some) by doing nothing (well, he says he changed his lunches) – I wish I could lose weight like a man!

Me and my husband , the love of my life, have been married for just over 3months now and due to me getting comfortable with him have gained a whopping 7 kg…and I am trying to work on it , but my husbands reaction to my weight gain has shocked me…after a month of no  physical contact he has told me that he cant gwet himself to touch me because of how I look… is this normal? has anyone else gone through this too? what do i do?
