I’m in the middle of my last semester for my bachelors of Social Work. I was curious if there were any other Social Work majors on here? BSW or MSW? Where did you or are you doing your internships? What populations are you interested in working with?
Just curious! I am interning at an agency that gives legal aid and social support to grandparents that are seeking custody/visitation with their grandchildren.

I was a social work major undergrad and did my senior internship at a nursing home. I decided that I didn’t want to pursue social work any longer so I went to law school, but Fiance is currently finishing up his Master’s of Social Work!
He worked with forensic patients in a psychiatric ward for his undergrad senior SOWK internship (people who are deemed unfit to testify in court for crimes they have committed), and his current internship is with Veterans Affairs doing case management with veterans with axis disorders. He was in the Marine Corps for 6 years and definitely wants to work with veterans 🙂

I have a MSW (well actually MA since I went to University of Chicago) and a LCSW. I did internships at a community organizing center that helped low income people fight for better housing, schools, etc. My other internship was at a hospital working in general medicine. Since graduating I have worked for Chicago Housing Projects programs and at two hospitals.

@Iloveyourlovethemost: Very cool! Just the other day in one of my classes we watched a show called Lisa Ling’s Our America (or something like that) and the particular episode was about PTSD. It followed a bunch of couples whose husbands had gone to war and were dealing with PTSD. Basically, they went to this couples retreat in order to work through their issues. It was really powerful and amazing to see the progress the men make during their time on the retreat. You and your fiance may be interested in watching it if you get a chance. I think it was on the Oprah Winfrey network. But, just a heads up, it’s a tear jerker. haha

I have my Bsw and I worked at an adolescent psychatric hospital for a bit. I applied to a few grad schools but timing hasn’t been right. I’m holding out but I want to start a non profit organization or go into international adoptions and orphan advocacy and awareness

I am a history/social work double major in western NC! 😀 I want to work with child advocay in the court system, and am starting a volunteer job with guardian ad litem, which makes me a court appointed guardian for a child in the system. I want to move on to more specific advocacy/awareness for sexual abuse victims.
