Would love to chat with my fellow stay at home moms. I am used to working at least part time and not working for the past several months, especially during the cold winter months, has really started to bore me. How are you alleviating your boredom?

@bohosioux: I can’t believe no one responded to this.
Iam a stay at home mum but my kids are at school now. I hate being bored so to relive my bordem I go to the gym. I love to cook and have a clean home so I keep pretty busy. I get everything done during the day including dinner cooked so when the kids get home they have all my attention.

I’m with ya on being bored! It’s too cold here to bring my daughter outside so we try to make the best of it! I do go to Jazzercise at 6am 3 days aweek. Which helps me at least get out of the house! Other then that we go and visit my mom and dad(dad works from home and my mom doesnt work) usally once a week and have a playdate once a week…but still I agree it does get boring sometimes, especially durning the winter!

Commenting to follow. I’m due with my first in May and I plan to leave my job within the next month because it forces me to be on my feet for hours and I’ve been getting bad back pain. I only work PT so I’m already home a lot but I worry about getting bored and depressed for the two months or so between leaving work and baby’s arrival.

I’m a stay at home mommy and the boredom totally gets to me because I am not use to it. I am constantly looking for a job now. My daughter is 17 months so she keeps me quite busy running around and breaking everything.

I’m a homemaker (hopefully soon to be SAHM) and I totally get the bored at home thing. I try to go to the gym a few times a week which helps a lot. Are there any groups in your area you could join? A lot of my friends do book clubs. Does your local community center host any groups/events?

I am pregnant with my first and will be a Stay-At-Home Mom. Glad to see there are others on here!

I’m a SAHFI! Sorry I’m not cool enough to be in the mom’s club. Stay at home fiance, eventually wife and mother hopefully. I am a busy person and all my friends are always working. I’m in school right now, so that helps keep me stimulated, and I have been volunteering. I’m teaching myself to cook pretty well and doing little projects around the house. I try to go to yoga and dance. I’ve decided that when I graduate in April I’m going to write a novel.
Have you found yourself a hobby of sorts? How old is baby?

Been a SAHFI since at least July (a few months after I found out I was pregnant) and a Stay-at-home Mom since December when I had the baby. Up until July, I had volunteered at a thrift store (especially since I was having the hardest time ever finding a PAID job) but after finding out I was pregnant started cutting back on my hours and not going there as often due to doctor’s appointments, paperwork to file in connection to the baby, weather getting hotter, you get the story. Since the baby at least, I hadn’t really had much time to be bored as the baby constantly needed fed and/or changed. Then there’s dishes to wash, meals to prepare, errands to run, and/or doctor’s appointments to go to. Right now, he’s in his new baby swing.
When I’m not busy with the aformentioned, I’m usually on the computer. I’ll do surveys to help bring some money in. I also keep attempting to writie novels that end up not panning out as well as once in a while editing stuff that Fiance has written. (I have an English degree.) Hopefully I can write a novel of my own that won’t have plot holes, crappy dialogue or anything other issues that should by rights be a thing of the past for me since my degree is in English, more specifically with an emphasis in Creative Writing.

Also, I’m hoping when the weather is consistently warmer, I’ll have access to a stroller so that baby and I can go on walks.

Finally, a response!! 🙂
I am a stay at home mom of two amazing kids, 5 (daughter) and 2 (son). I am pregnant and expecting another son in April. So, I have my hands full around the house but that doesn’t exactly keep me entertained, mentally. I am an organic baker, taking small orders here and there, but that is only a very random and temporary relief. My Fiance works, obviously, and with two kids and being pregnant, I find it tough to find much to do during the winter months besides hibernate indoors. I don’t get any alone time and am from the SW and being outside was very much a part of my daily routine, so this midwest thing is quite the difficult pill to swallow. I dont’t have family that I speak to for over two hours away and my parents live in Arizona, so it can get a little boring, conversation-wise. Hoping when we move into our new, bigger place this Saturday, we will all be preoccupied until baby arrives with navigating furniture and making ourselves at home. Glad to hear I am not alone! My daughter starts school this fall and I will be home with the two boys. Babies are always fun and plenty needy, so we’ll certainly be in for a treat. 🙂
