Hey! I’ve been married for close to 7 months and just turned 23 in January. I didn’t experience the whole judgy people thing which was nice. If your parents aren’t worried about you no one else needs to be

youngbride2012 :  good for you! Both of our parents were supportive and we have always been more mature than others our age. Engaged right after my 21st birthday. We met in college and lived together 7 months into our relationship lol. If you believe in your marriage that’s what counts.

I think I qualify! Got engaged at 23 (SO is 22) and we’ll both be 24 when we get married. I agree with PP, we’re both definitely more mature for our age and never enjoyed that huge party college stereotype anyways, so it’s what works for our relationship!

My parents got married when my mom was 18 and my dad was 20! Everyone apparently told them they were crazy and going way too fast. But they’ve been together for ~35 years now! It can work 🙂

youngbride2012 :  22 here. DH is 25 though. Been married two months now! I think it shouldn’t matter though how old you are as long as both people are ready. 🙂

not married yet, but I’ll be 20 at the time of the wedding, and 21 two months later. FH will turn 23 two weeks after the wedding. I’ve heard of a lot of people getting snarky remarks and I was worried about that myself. My oldest sister got married at 20, the other at 19. Many of DHs friends (between 20-25) have gotten married recently, and i’d say a good majority of mine (between 18-21) have as well. So hopefully snarkiness won’t be an issue.

Maybe it’s a regional thing as well. I’m not sure I know of anyone personally that was over 25 when they got married.

I just got married this past September at 24. I think “young” is a relative term. I have always been mature for my age and personally set milestones that I wanted to achieve before I got married, which I did (with him). I finished my university degree, had a permenant job, purchased a car and a house and saved to pay the wedding by ourselves in full. I finished my milestones so I personally felt ready, thats what matters.

I’m getting married in September; I’m 20 and Fiance will be 23! I’m from the southeast US where it isn’t too uncommon to get married young, but I’m currently in school in the north. Our families are super supportive, but sometimes where I am in life feels very different from my friends, so it’s nice to see this thread!

Starting dating at 17, engaged at 21, and will be 23 for big wedding. It works well for us! 🙂
