DesBride:  *raises hand* I semi-extensively responded to a similar thread 3 weeks ago… http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/we-just-booked-bora-bora-moorea-and-tahaa/

But I’ll add a little packing advice from our experience…

– water shoes aka aqua socks are a must

– your fave brand of sunblock is a must (and lots of it!)

– underwater camera is a must (add it to your registry!) w/spare battery

– travel electrical adapter is a must (we brought two — and used both all the time for our electronics)

– gallon sized or larger ziplock bags are a must (they come in handy for wet bathing suits, shoes, etc, when you are packing, island hopping, or en route to home)

– rash guard aka rashie aka rash vest (a “swim/surf shirt” so to speak) was a MUST for me as I get cold easily… this gave me lots of extended water time and kept me from feeling like I may encounter any wardrobe malfunctions

– small flashlights, nice candles, chocolates (like M&M packs) are nice for sharing with exceptional staff and their children (remember, practically everything is imported to the islands so these items are extra special for people who live on the islands)

– leave the heels and wedges at home (SO glad I listened to all the advice to keep heels at home and NOT overpack… we saw one couple where the wife was traipsing around in sky high wedges — it was kind of laughable and so not chic)

Below are a bunch of websites that helped me prepare:

And, though not specific to the Society Islands, these helped me generically with honeymoon packing:

Hope that helps and feel free to PM me with any questions! You’re gonna have an amazing time!

DesBride:  I can’t wait either!!! If possible, I think I might be more excited about Moorea than I am about the wedding!!!! I just bought a new bathing suit, but I haven’t gotten any clothes yet. We’re going the first week in October, which seems PAINFULLY far away. What about you guys?

I’m reading all the tips I can find on Trip Advisor. One good one was to buy a couple of bottles of alcohol at duty free at LAX before flying over. Evidently food and drinks are ridiculously expensive, and you can save a ton of money by buying your alcohol at duty free and stopping at the grocery store on Moorea to buy juice and soda for mixers. I thought this sounded great because then you also had a stock of drinks for your room and to take with you to other parts of the island, so you aren’t tied to the hotel the entire time.

Do you guys have any activities you’re thinking of doing? We want to rent bicycles and ride around Moorea (though I’m not sure what the distances to different places are). I read somewhere that the main town was about three miles away from our hotel, but I other sites said differently. Lots of people mentioned that the restaurants in the town would send cars to pick you up for dinner and drop you off again after, but we’re young and fit and I’m wondering if maybe we can just walk most places?

Which reminds me – where are you guys staying?

So Excited!!!!

DesBride:  Ooo – Marshalls! I hadn’t thought of getting coverups yet, I’m going to have to check it out! Ross might be a good place to try too. $45 for drinks is just crazy!! We’re definitely going to bring alcohol with us and we’ll buy food for lunches and snacks at the grocery store.

Are you guys planning to have dinners in the hotel or will you venture into the towns? We’re staying at the Sofitel and their hotel restaurants actually have pretty bad reviews (yikes) so we’re going to head to restaurants in town as often as possible.

I REALLY want to get a massage while I’m there, but I can’t find any reviews of their “day spa” online, or prices. My fiance wants to go golfing while he’s there. We definitely want to do a lot of hiking and snorking and ATVing.

Finding the actual cost for things has been a challenge, since different sites I’ve found give different prices. We’ll only be there for 5 days (well, really 6 but the last day is the day we leave) so I want to plan at least 5 big activities for us.

I can’t wait to hear about your trip in May – I’m jealous you get to go so soon!!!!!!!!!
