I have not bought my gown yet and am going to try more on this coming weekend. But my current favourite that I have tried on is a dropped waist and I’m 5’2. Actually I’ve tried on about 5 gowns and two were dropped waist and they are the two front runners.

Here is my favourite thus far.

I had a drop-waist gown too and I thought it was fine! Wore 5-inch heels though.

ETA: I’m 5’3″

kc430 :  I think it depends on your proportions. If you have a short torso, a drop waist can help lengthen it. But if you have a long torso and short legs, it will just make your legs look stumpy.

Not strictly dropped waist, but it was fitted to my hips then flared into the full skirt. I’m 5’3″ for reference, and wearing only low heels. I guess it depends on the proportions of you and the dress. Nothing to stop you trying some on and seeing what you like though!

I’m 5’3″ and was worried about finding a dress that would give me more of a presence without getting lost in it. I thought this drop waist gown fit the bill perfectly. Felt like it elongated my torso and made me look taller. It hasn’t been fitted or hemmed or anything yet so it’s excessively long but heading in the right direction!

Not sure if mine counts but I’m 5″2 and this is mine. It’s a dropped waist a-line I think.
