This is my first post on here (though I have been following the boards for quite sometime!) I was wondering, are there any re purosed engagement/wedding jewels out there? I was engaged a while back and, after the engagement broke off (he cheated….ugh), he asked that I keep, and never get rid of, the diamond. True to my word, I never got rid of it but I, instead, turned it into this little beauty! It’s a right hand ring to signify my strength and independence (and the amethysts are simply because I love purple). Has anyone else done anything with their past engagement/wedding rings that are no longer in use? And, if so, does your current SO have any issues with you wearing your new items? My current man did have issue, but I talked him out of it real fast! 🙂

I have a diamond from my first marriage, I wanted to sell it but it was worth nothing, it’s a smaller diamond and not the best quality (even though it’s really pretty) so I was only offered $50-100 for it in the jewelry district, I could probably get more in a private sale but it doesn’t seem worth selling. Fiance suggested getting a matching one and having them set into diamond studs. He has zero jealousy about that kind of thing, so I think I will do it eventually.

Your ring’s beautiful! I love colored stones so excellent choice with those amethysts.
The diamond in my engagement ring was my FI’s grandmother’s, and it was previously in his ex-wife’s engagement ring. She gave it back when they divorced. I had no issues with his having it reset in a completely different ring design, especially given the family connection. It would have been a shame to waste a beautiful diamond plus it saved him money on my engagment ring, so I’m extra happy there!

No pictures to share yet but I have my previous wedding set that I kept after the divorce. I plan on resetting it in the future and DH has no argument. He thinks it’s better to wear my previous set from my ex than sell it for hardly any money. So when finances allow I will be putting those rings to good use.

Not the same thing, but the center stone was a beautiful (I, vs1) pendant that my dad (he passed two years ago) gave me when I graduated from high school, the side stones were earrings that my maternal grandfather (he passed 5 years ago) gave my grandmother, the last gift he gave her. My DH had them set into a ring, and its yellow gold because I’m older 🙂 and I like yellow gold.

Your ring is beautiful!
My engagement ring setting is pretty much all reused diamonds. I’ve lost both of my parents and Fiance has lost his mom. We took the diamonds from my moms wedding set and his moms wedding set, plus a necklace she add and designed my setting!

You definitely should get the earrings. I’m glad your Fiance is so supportive!

My thoughts exactly about the diamond. What a shame it would be for them to be hidden somewhere! They are meant to sparkle!! Good for you for being so understanding!
That’s so special that you’re able to have that! It looks like they were meant to be put together!
Thank you! 🙂
I hope you show us what you end up doing! And your DH is a smart man!

I have my grandmothers wedding ring, a 1ct diamond band from my mother, a gold band from my first e-ring and extra round moissanites from the first ering setting. I just took all of those rings/diamonds/mossys to the jeweler and told him I need my grandmothers ring to be the center of the band, but to take the white gold and the yellow gold/diamonds and create one large massive middle finger rhr. He’s designing it now, ill show it when hes done. It’s a nail biter considering grandmothers ring is about 100 years old with a gorgeous dark patina, I hope he doesn’t screw it up.

My wedding band was white gold and channel set with 7 hearts on fire diamonds. Over the years, I had 3 diamonds fall out, luckily I found them all. It turns out the channel was too shallow and my jeweler told me it would just keep happening and couldn’t be repaired. So, for our ten year anniversary, I had a new band made with the HOF diamonds. This time the band is platinum with a Euro shank and the diamonds are flush set. I actually just received it yesterday! I had it engraved on the inside with the exact same thing that was on the original wedding band. I am so happy to be able to wear the diamonds again but it a new way 🙂
Here’s the original channel set band:
And here is the new ring (these are David Klass’ photos)

Your stack is beautiful! I love your new DK ring!

thank you! I’m really happy with it 🙂

that is gorgeous! Can i ask you what is the size of the stones and the width of the band?)
thanks! The diamonds are 2.08 mm each and total .024 ct. The new band is 3 mm wide. The other two bands are each 2.2mm wide. I like the new, slightly wider band because it looks substantial enough when worn alone, but still thin enough to stack 🙂
