Hi Northern California Bees!!! The wedding is about 7 months away and I am starting to search for someone experienced with a good reputation to do my alterations. My sister had a horrible experience with her lady. We ended up steaming her dress the morning of the wedding and she had to pull her dress up about 1,000 times the day of the wedding because it was falling down so often. I just don’t want this experience!!!
Can anyone give me recommendations for an alterationist in the greater Sacramento area? OR is there a particular person or shop that I should stay away from? Can you also tell me how much you paid and what kind of alterations you had done?
P.S. I got my dress from a seller on WB so I can’t just take it to the bridal shop I bought it from.

Bumping this thread….
Did you ever find someone? I’m in a similar situation!

@UA2Mizzou: Thanks for bumping this! I got the name of a reputable lady in Roseville, we chatted a few weeks ago and were supposed to talk again in the beginning of May. She ended up going out of town and I have left messages and haven’t heard back… I’m going to try to call her again in a week or two (since my wedding is still 5 months out). If I hear from her, I will PM you with her info. 🙂

Hi I live in the Sacramento area but I drove out to Alameda (bay area) to go to a seamstress highly recommended by my dress shop. Her name is Cathy Marie, at Alameda Sewing Cottage.
I have an all lace dress and fortunately didn’t have to alter the hem, but my other alterations were, adding chest cups, tightening a clasp, bringing in the shoulders, bringing in the waist for $250. I really like working with her. I hope this helps!
