i posted in someone else’s thread earlier that I do someone regret spending the money on a diamond when I had a perfectly fine Moissy. Has anyone felt this same twinge of Ughhh why did I spend this money to get the nearly exact look?

No, not really. I originally picked up my ering with moissy inside but so glad I decided to go with diamond instead. As beautiful as the stone was, the color bothered me a lot especially becuase it is set in halo with white gold so it stood out as sore thumb.
But I am sure there is lots of Bees who will share your feeling.

I never started with a moissy, but I always knew I wanted an actual diamond. I hate the elitist attitude that both diamond lovers and moissy lovers seem to have towards each other on this forum… I have nothing against moissy’s (or colored gemstones) but I wanted that traditional diamond engagement ring that I will pass on to my daughter as my grandmother/mother did with me. I am old school. I also don’t think moissys pass well as diamonds so that helped make my decision.

ehh I don’t think this is the case for everyone.
Moissy doesn’t really behave like a diamond. People who are comfortable with their moissanites and don’t feel the need to use it as a diamond simulant like the warmth and the color moodiness and the sparkle.
Diamonds behave like diamonds (LOL). They are white stones that reflects light, no moodiness, and is the norm for our society. Women who likes diamonds, buy diamonds.
The regret will happen to those who HAVE expectations. People who expect their $$ will get a better quality and quantity of diamond–will get regrets. People who expect their moissies to act identical to a diamond will get regret.
Different stories, but every regret is rooted in unrealistic expectations. 🙂

I think moissanite is very beautiful. It’s a gorgeous stone, actually. It’s just not the stone I wanted for my engagement ring/wedding set. It behaves completely different than a diamond. The color is different, the depth looks different, ect. People should really do their research and look at videos, ect. before deciding on one. I wanted a diamond for a few reasons but one being I love the way they behave in all lighting. I also really love how old diamonds are and how long they take to be created. It’s so amazing! But if someone loves moissanite for what it is I think they will be happy with their choice.
We went for a preowned diamond to cut cost and ended up spending less on my diamond ring and wedding band than we would have on a moissanite set. I don’t regret it at all.
The square brillaint is my old moissanite. The round brilliant is my diamond.

I suggested moissy but Fiance decided on a diamond. I prefer the cold white sparkle of diamond so I’m happy (although I would have been happy either way!). They’re just very different stones. Moissanite has more fire. You should get the one you like best!

I don’t regret it at all. I had a 1.5 carat diamond first, then a 2 carat moissanite so I could try out the size, but I always felt like the sparkle wasn’t right and beside my diamond wedding band the color was too obviously different, so I upgraded to a 2 carat diamond (then soon after a 2.31 diamond) and despite the $$$ I couldn’t be happier!
I adore the way it looks now whereas with the moissy I was always trying to make myself love it.

I had never known of moissanites before I was engaged. I’d learned about it after I joined the bee. I think they’re beautiful and I think I would have considered it very early on. I, too, do not care for the elitist thinking of select diamond owners vs. moissanite owners. I think all rings are beautiful. With the years I’ve spent on this board, I do have to admit that I’ve begun to notice the yellow/green tint some moissanites have and I personally do not like it and it would bother me. That said, if I had gotten a moissy, I know for sure that I would eventually want a diamond down the line.

Do to my recent issues with the maker of the AG, I have recently considered switching to a diamond. But at the end of the day I feel as if I would deeply regret it. The main reason being is that I personally can not tell the difference between the AG and a diamond about 99% of the time. My stone just behaves too much like my antique diamond and DH’s diamonds.

Me too… I am considering getting an AG for a stand in ring or something else and now your comment worries me!

I went from diamond, to larger moissy, to diamond, so I knew what things would look and perform like, and no regrets… but I do still like to wear moissy too, lol. My diamond is my fav for a few reasons. The colour is important to me, and moissy warmth bugged me a lot for daily wear. But I think the main reason I fell in love with it most was that it is an antique. It is not a perfect diamond, but it is old and full of history and charm. I like to imagine it’s llfe before me… so I think that it is the romance (imagined on my part, lol) that makes me so happy with it.

Nothing with their product or their customer service during the transaction.
Again, more about the owner and the forum than the actual product or service.

My first few rings were diamonds then I decided to try moissanite and now amora gem. I love all of them but I have to admit that the moissanite was my least favorite because of the moodiness. But as far as the amora gem goes, I really love it as much as my diamonds. No regrets here 🙂
