Happilyeverafter909 : This question is so impossible to answer based on a photo- good quality or not.
1. It depends on the brand of the ring. A 1 carat flawless, colorless, ideal cut diamond in a halo (like pictured) at an online store like Blue Nile will run you around $12,000. Same ring at Harry Winston starts at $33,000. (but with that airline I’ll tell you right now that is not a Harry Winston ring)
2. It depends on the carat weight, cut, color, and quality of the diamond. If it is a lower quality, a lower color, and not a great cut then you can get a one carat diamond for under five grand. If the setting is a stock halo setting you can get that for around $1500. However, if it’s a custom-made halo setting (and halos are quite popular right now) the setting alone could be $4000-$5000.
With that said, I see a difference in color between the center diamond and the halo. Most of the time halo melee are F-G color. Since I see a difference in color I would say her diamond is an H or an I, maybe even a J. This drops the price significantly. It’s impossible to tell the quality cut and inclusions with the blurry picture. Let’s say it’s 1 carat, I VS2, excellent princess cut from a “regular” store (i.e. not Cartier or Harry Winston). But, if she has tiny hands, which it kind of looks like she does, it could be more like a half carat or three-quarter carat. That will also drop the price – but for argument sake let’s call it a 1 carat. You can get that exact diamond on Blue Nile for $4500. Add the stock halo for another $1500 to 2 grand and you’re looking at a $6000 or $7000 ring.
“Rich” is subjective.

This is a very weird post…. who cares if she’s bragging about how much her ring cost or about having a rich fiance? You don’t need to play into that and try to verify her story. Not only does it make that girl look tacky for bragging, it makes you look tacky too…

Olivepepper : Sorry, my post wasn’t very clear. I completely agree with you!! I meant it’s weird that she’s posting a photo of someone else’s ring, she shouldn’t care about someone else bragging about their own life/ring! I totally agree with you, I just said it in a confusing way 🙂

The center stone looks to be about 1.5-2.0 carat princess cut. Can’t tell anything about the other 3 C’s, but assuming it is Excellent cut, E color or higher and VVS2 or better — and they bought at a B&M, the stone would run $16-44k. The setting is probably another $3-5k (although, the stone is improperly set, the halo is properly made). If the bought from Harry Winston, Tiffany or the like — the whole thing could be double or more. Not really sure what the relationship between husband’s wealth and the ring are…being wealthy does not mean you buy a huge or great rock. So, the bragging is annoying, but so is the fact that you could not just be happy for her to get what she is obviously tickled about.

Not a great looking ring at all, the craftmenship is certainly lacking…..but as pps said , it depends on so many factors…
