Are any of you bees runners??
It doesnt matter if youre a beginner or an advanced runner, I just wanted to find out who else out there is racking up the miles (fast or slow!) I just signed up for the half marathon in Pittsburgh in May 2013. I am excited, nervous, thank goodness its so far away!
Running has been my stress reliever and I was interested to see which of you bees are runners! If so do you have a preferred training style (or not) for races, and how many races have you run? (If at all)
I think I might need lots of inspiration in the coming months and I’d be interested to see if anyone else would like to join me on my journey. I think it would be a great way to stay relaxed and focused on a healthy fitness goal leading up to our wedding.

I’m a runner. It helps me clear my head as well as keep my weight in check.

Me! I’m running my first marathon in just under a month. I’ve done 6 half marathons over the past 2 years or so. I agree that it’s the best stress reliever.
Are you training with a group or following a specific training plan?

I wish I could call myself a runner! I used to be a sprinter in high school and in the last 2 or 3 years I have run in probably 10 5ks. I have good seasons when I am in shape but lately I have done nothing. I hope someday to run a half-good for you for doing it! Right now I am a single mom working 2 jobs and commuting 35 mins 3 nights a week to SO’s house so that is my excuse for being a lazy butt 🙂 I don’t follow a training program, I just go out and go as far as I can and try to go farther the next day.

There is a group of Bees that participate in monthly/semi-monthly challenges on Daily Mile (www.dailymile.com). We’ve got just under 2 weeks until the current challenge finishes, but there will be another one starting up again, so I hope you can join us! Several of us are in marathon & half-marathon training, myself included.

I’m a runner!! Have been for more than 1/2 my life- about 14 years. The past 2 years or so I was more of an occassional runner, but now that the wedding is over and I have my life back, I’m getting back into training. I was up to 10 miles for my long run once a week about 3 weeks ago, but then I got pneumonia and my endurance isn’t back up yet. I’m still pretty fit though because my pace for 5 miles is still around 7:30 comfortably! Super excited to be back into the running game, and to have my DH training with me 🙂

@ruby26: I would kill for that pace, haven’t been there since high school!

Yes! My long runs on the weekends have kept me from going off the deep end. I run with a girlfriend who is also one of my bridesmaids…we don’t go fast, just far, and we just chat away the miles. It’s amazing 🙂

I love to run! I took a lot of the summer off due to a hip injury, but training has started again! I’m running my first marathon in 100 days and I am TERRIFIED!! I am going too look into the dailymile challenge next month.. Woohoo!!

I run about 4-5 times a week. No crazy long distances. I usually don’t go further than 5 miles. I would never run a marathon though, they are not the best for your body.

I love to run but have turned it way down this year while TTC. I qualified for the Boston marathon in April but made the decision not to sign up, because I knew it would affect my chances of conceiving. Soooo… I really miss my runs! Someday I’ll get back into it — for now I’m doing slow, short trots around the block.

@FutureMrsBG: I run 5 days a week and am training for the Philly half. I don’t love it at all (especially not today when it poured rain for 43 of the 45 minutes I was running!). I don’t like races and have only done 2 5ks. I much prefer to run alone and I only run because it is something FI and his family do. It is a great stress reliever and it keeps me tiny, so that is a huge plus! This is the training program I am using: http://www.halfmarathons.net/training_tips_schedule_20_weeks.html

I am trying to be! I’ve only been running for about 5 months but I love it! My friend signed us up for the Nike Women’s half marathon in DC lottery, should find out soon if she got picked. Secretly, I’m kinda hoping she didn’tbre cause I’m sure if I can do it but the other half of me is really excited about an impossible goal like that. I am worried about the winter though, I am freaking out about not being able to run when there’s snow on the ground and I HATE the treadmill.Anyway, I wish you all the best in your running!
