I’m a diver but I only own a 2mm shorty currently (and I bought it at Sam’s Club so it is super not fancy but gets the job done).

Darling Husband and I dove in Cozumel in November and loved it!  My recommendation is not to buy a 5mm full suit now (unless you will use it for diving near home).  You will sweat in that in Cozumel!  DH dove the whole trip without a wetsuit and I only wore my diving skin and was really comfortable.

If you get cold in a 3mm in 86 degrees then I guess you should get a 5mm.  I’d have been burning up in that though!  ๐Ÿ™‚

A skin won’t do you much good if you get that cold.  It is more just a barrier between the ocean and your body and just a minimal warmth providor.  Although they can make it easier to shimmy into thicker wetsuits (I originally bought my skin when I was living in CA and diving in 8mm wetsuits in the cold Pacific to make it easier to get the wetsuit on).

Where in Cozumel are you staying?

We stayed at the Fiesta Americana when we went.

Honestly, Darling Husband and I wanted to do as much diving as possible.  We planned for multiple dives a day for each day we were there so we didn’t really have any “extra” time to do other things in Cozumel.  We did go to the “downtown” area where the cruise ships dock one night for a more formal dinner away from our hotel buffet.  Something a little more authentic.
