Hi bees! My Fiance and I recently made the decision to move our Oct 4, 2014 wedding up to August. Summer is a better time for us to get married for almost every reason except for one: the weather! We live in Florida and June-August is pretty much miserable here. Because of this, we also decided to move our wedding inside, which Fiance was very disappointed about.
Right now I’m just trying to adjust to this new change. I’m excited that our wedding is moved up a little bit and it’s a better time for both us and our guests to be traveling, but I’m sad thinking that our wedding and subsequent anniversaries will be at one of the hottest/most rainy times of the year!
I just wanted to hear from any other southern brides having summer weddings. Are you ladies also worried about inclement weather? Are you looking forward to celebrating your anniversary in the summer?
Thanks bees! 🙂

Hey! Late but not too late, we are also doing all indoor because NC in the summer is a misery. I never considered an outdoor wedding though, mostly because I am way too controlling to let the chips fall where they may. I would be a wreck checking the weather.
My friend just got married in NC last weekend and it was super hot and pouring rain – luckily all of her celebration was indoors. It was beautiful and I think her pictures are going to come out great. I know she was relieved not to be stressed about it when the weather was so foul.
I’m really excited to have our anniversary be in the summer. Our dating anniversary is over Thanksgiving…

we are in atlanta and the wedding is next august, surprisingly this summer had been filled with nothing but rain. our venue has an indoor option that we can change to the morning of the wedding just in case of rain or extremely hot weather. im looking forward to hae a summer anni so we can vacation. our dating anniversary is right after new years. and my birthday is in november, ive always wanted a reason to celebrate something in the summer

I am having mine August 16 next year in Wrightsville beach NC… So nice of the lady at the bridal shop to inform/remind me it is the hottest month of the year and also mid hurricane season! I am having both my reception and ceremony indoors but pictures I had planned on the beach but I don’t want to look like a hot mess, literally. I plan on “burying the bourbon” to ward off rain though!

@Tbblount: Yay another NC bride! I was freaking about hurricaine season too, but my mother convinced me that you can’t really avoid getting married during it unless you do the early spring or the dead of winter (neither of which we can do due to timing), so I’m just shrugging it off and crossing my fingers.

Yay, I’m glad I’m not alone! I was freaking out about it but once we made the official changes with our vendors I adopted a “what’s done is done! there’s nothing I can do to control the randomness of nature” attitude and I feel a lot better. lol I don’t even mind if it rains on our wedding day as long as there are no hurricanes! I’ll flip if there’s a hurricane but anything less than that we’ll deal with.
