@sealevels:  I’ll suggest some of my favorites: Colonial Dames which is downtown. Morris Arboretum in Chestnut Hill. Batram’s Garden in South Philly.

let me add one more: The Seaport Museum by Penns Landing. You can do the ceremony outside overlookin the Ben Franklin Bridge.

It depends on where you want to be – I really wanted an outdoor ceremony as well, but venues in Center City with outdoor spaces are very limited (something I am sacrificing to have my urban wedding). If you’re willing to travel outside of the city, Holly Hedge Estate looked nice. Also, you might want to look into Glen Foerd Mansion.

@sealevels:  I heard that too, but also heard that the caterer does all the work w them so it’s not that bad.

@sealevels:  I think based on what you’re saying Colonial Dames will fit you perfectly.  They have a stunning outdoor garden space to get married and the indoor won’t be too big for you.  I would have picked Colonial Dames but it was a little too tight for me.  You can also bring in your own caterer which will save you a ton of money.

It might be too big for you but College of Physicians has a gorrrrrgeous outdoor space.  It’s a medicinal garden. Maybe I’m biased since I’m tying the knot there in September but  I think think it’d be great.

You have tons of time to plan, lady. Enjoy your engagement!

@sealevels:  I’m totally partial to Bartram’s Garden, where I’m getting married in May.  It fits your listed criteria and it’s an awesome venue for a smaller party too. The ceremony is in the common flower garden (where the same type of flowers have been continually grown since the 18th Century), the reception is in the brick barnyard (where you can cram a bunch of people if you want, but honestly it would look best with a smaller party like yours), and they can even open the historic house for tours during your cocktail hour. Lovemedo photography has tons of weddings on their blog if you want to see real Bartram’s weddings. The garden is such an underused oasis in the city. I love that the money we spent on the venue would be going to a park/nonprofit instead of a hotel. You should definitely look into it!

Did it have to be in the city ??  There are a lot of great B&B’s in the suburbs along with private homes/farms that do fantastic intimate weddings.
