@LittleCricket:  I actually just did a whole work clothes shopping spree as I lost a bunch of weight and didn’t really have much to begin with as I’ve been out of the traditional office setting for a while now. Here’s where I went: Forever 21, H & M, Old Navy, and Target. I also went to a couple off-brand stores at the mall that just sell womens clothing; they’re good for basics. I think I got a nice wardrobe that is age appropriate, yet professional.

I’ve been working in an office setting since I was 14 and I always felt like I dressed like an old lady. This will be the first time that I’ll actually feel like I look nice in work clothes lol.

Loft, Lord & Taylor, Nordstrom, Banana Republic, The Limited (though a lot of times, you have to sift through some weird pseduo-office wear), J. Crew (I stalk their sale section, since I think their stuff is overpriced) and Madewell (particularly for button-downs.

Try the Ann Taylor outlet if there is one near you.  I swear by it.  I get shirts for $10 and pants for $20.  They carry different things from the regular store.

ETA:  Oh no one’s mentioned Express yet.  Go there too

H&M and Macy’s (depending on how old you are, the juniors section surprisingly has a good selection)!

If you are into cute dresses appropriate for the office, then Kohls is a good place to go to right now. I recently got some great dresses there for super cheap (Kohls has a ton of coupons).

New York and Company and Express are great too per PP’s suggestions.

@LittleCricket:  Target and JCPenny can have cute things every now and then.

Also, I use TJMaxx to get redic cheap dresses from Calvin Klein etc. Other bees have suggested the Nordstrom? ‘Rack’ – but we don’t have on in our town.

My friends all love Express – one of them probably has every single top they’ve ever made.  I bought a great interview outfit from Boston Store.

Aaaand that’s all the help I can offer, because I’m a wildlife biologist and it’s perfectly acceptable for me to show up in jeans, hiking shoes, and a sweatshirt every day 🙂

I have actually had a lot of luck with Dress Barn… I always think it’s going to be terribly dowdy, but they do have some young cute stuff! And inexpensive but not poor quality!
