I’m new to this website and I see that everyone here is helping other brides out 🙂
I have a few questions that I need help with if anyone would like to answer them for me.
1) After I get married, I’m planning on dropping my middle name and move my maiden name to become my middle name, then take my future husband’s last name since that’s how it’s done in my culture. However I live in the state of NV and I’ve heard a few things where the SS office allows us to do that but the DMV won’t, which I find kind of odd. If any bride, bride-to-be, or anyone married can answer this, it would be tremendously helpful and I’d truly appreciate it.
2) I’m also looking for a vendor for flowers. Are there any suggestions for the LV area?
3) Lastly (for now ), anyone know of someone who does really good hair and makeup for a wedding? Also in the LV area?
I’ve googled a few but I’d rather hear from people whose worked with some of these places/people.

Hmmm… yes, the DMV thing does sound very strange.
Are you sure you aren’t a little confused? I ask because here in Florida, you have to get your name changed with the SS office and get them to provide you with the proper paperwork BEFORE you go to the DMV.
So yeah, the DMV *wouldn’t* let you change your name at all on your license until you had the right paperwork from the SS office *first*. Maybe that’s the case in your area, too, regardless of what you change your name to?

@rachelmichelle: I know going to the SS office is the first place you should go to, but I remember one of my coworkers tried to do the same thing too when she got married. I remember her telling me that she went to the SS office first and they allowed her to do the name change but when she went to the DMV afterwards, they wouldn’t let her. So to avoid any argument or stress, she just ended up taking her husbands last name.

I would wait until you get your new Social Security card back. That might help with the transition for the DMV.

I live in Las Vegas & I went to the DMV first (they were open earlier) and changed my ID then went to the social security office. They just required you to go to the ss office within a certain time frame.

@Miss Rice: did you change your maiden name to your middle name though?

We’re using Naakiti Floral for our flowers and Perfect Hair & Makeup. They both have been great vendors to work with so far, but I can’t give a personal review until next week ;o)

I’m using The Palette for flowers and Makeup in the 702 for hair and makeup. Pam from the Palette has answered all ten million of my questions so quickly. And I was lucky enough to have my trial with makeup in the 702 during my scouting trip in June. I am a bit of a hair nazi, so when I tell you that I have never been so happy with my hair and makeup you shouldn’t take it lightly. They are more expensive then some of the other companies but they are absolutely worth it.

@Vanity8685: I’m using the Palette too! Pam is so nice and she’s very quick with responing back to my emails. I found a hair and makeup place called La’Bella Mafia and they have pretty good reviews. I’m every picky as well so I hope they do a great job on me and my bridesmaids.
