We’re having our ceremony start at 4PM Sunday and reception until 9:30 PM. Any other brides in the same boat? I am also curious to hear from brides who have already received RSVPs – did a lot of people decline because of this?

Congratulations! We are not doing evening, but we are doing a Sunday morning wedding brunch from 11am – 3:30 pm. This worked well for us because our families both live in MA and we chose a country club in MA. Also, I am Jewish and many Jewish weddings are on Sundays because of Shabbat.
I think that as long as everyone is within 1 1/2 hours driving time, you will be fine. The times that you chose for your reception are perfect because it allows time for your guests to return home and get enough sleep before work the next day.

We are! Our ceremony starts at 3:30 and the reception is over at 11:00. It is a destination wedding and many people are making it into a vacation. Also, if it were on Saturday, people would have to take off Friday to travel. This way, they can just take off Monday instead. Although, a lot of people are coming Thursday and leaveing Monday or Tuesday.
We have gotten a few deals with having a Sunday wedding. We also didn’t have to worry about things like trolleys and limo already being booked.

oh and our RSVPs are what we were expecting

Hi there! Our wedding is also on a Sunday so I had this same concern when I started planning. Most of our guests are local and we got about the number of responses we would have expected if it was on a Saturday. Only 2 people have told us they would not be able to attend the reception because it’s on a Sunday and they have to work the next day.

Sunday evening bride here! We had the same timeline as you, ceremony at 4 and reception to 9:30 or 10. We didn’t have anyone decline because the wedding was a Sunday. We had very few Out of Town guests, but that was mainly because of the economy and traveling costs. Everything went really well, and everyone stayed until after the cake was cut (8:30). I think your wedding will be great with the times you have chosen!

I am having a Sunday wedding, same start (4 pm) and end time (9:30). It is a destination wedding and it is on a 3 day weekend as Monday is a national holiday. We too wanted to give people Saturday to travel.

We are doing a Sunday 4:30 ceremony and 5-9 reception (pictures before ceremony). We have more guests attending then I expected. Some semi-close relatives (2 hrs) are not attending which I am okay with b/c I have a giant family with a million cousins. However, we have many more Out of Town guests than I expected.
