It wasn’t FOR our guests, but we walked down the aisle together which some people said surprised them.  We had bubbly waiting for our guests when they arrived for the ceremony, which I thought was a nice touch.  We got married during a heat wave and we gave fans along with the programs.

@EastMeetsBarn:  I like the fireworks idea….did you have an indoor or outdoor wedding?

@JanieG:  My father also passed away, so him walking me down the aisle wasn’t an option.  I’m also a raging feminist, so I would have preferred both my mom and my dad, and my mom uses a walker, so that wouldn’t have happened.  We got married outside, and Darling Husband really wanted me to make my entrance down a staircase before coming down the aisle.  The mere thought made my anxious, so I came up with the idea that he would walk me down the steps, and the more I thought about the idea, the more I got excited about it.  I really loved it.  I posted photos of it the threads about walking down the aisle together.  We didn’t do a first look (which I’m very happy about given the circumstances– heat makes Darling Husband cranky!), so when I first came out, DH’s reaction was priceless.  And because he was the closest person to me, waiting to walk me down the stairs/aisle, it was also semi-private.

We had regular programs (necessary for an Episcopal wedding) AND fans.  We got them cheap from Oriental Trading.  And if you are doing a smaller wedding, I have a whole bunch left over that I’d like to get rid of 🙂  We had chilled champagne and non-alcoholic cider for guests when they first arrived.  That was always the plan, and was even more important given how hot it was.
