Congrats on this big step! I’m a first year third grade teacher, and I can truly say that teaching is a VERY rewarding career, but also a lot of work. My advice to you would be to 1.) Get organized! teaching is A LOTTTTTT of paperwork. I would recommend buying file folders and a calendar. 2.) Start your classroom management on day 1. The way you interact with the students will set the tone for the entire school year. 3.) Realize there will be good days and bad days. Your first year will definetly be a challenge, but stay positive. 4.) Realize what a big impact you will have on your students.

I’ll be honest, your evenings will probabally be overcome with writing lesson plans and grading papers. I felt a little overwhelmed at first, but once I got a system in place it was manageable.Try to set time aside for wedding planning every day so you won’t feel overwhelemed with planning. 🙂

Good luck!

Congrats!  You will be fine having your wedding in October.  I’m a first year 1st grade
teacher and I bought my first house in January and got married in April.  It has been a crazy year, but in a good way!  Just make sure you have a personal planner and write down everything that needs to be done in that.  There will be stress- but shouldn’t be anything that you can’t handle.  Good luck!

Set a time to leave work every day.  There will ALWAYS be work to do, but you have to save time for yourself.  I’ll be teaching up to 4 days before our wedding so I’ll let you know what those days are like closer to!

@Nicoley1985:  PS – the buying the house part was honestly the hardest for me!  Everyone needs signatures, responses, etc. ASAP and that’s just not possible in our field of work.  Make Fiance the go-to guy for that stuff!
