Hi guys!
My fiance and I spoke with our photographer last night. We planned everything out, except where to take our shots after the ceremony and before the reception! We would like something looking distressed, old, abandoned, maybe over grown fields? I know westchester must have some great places for photos!
Our reception hall (Villa Barone Hilltop Manor) offers a site that they made on the side of a lake…but that is so boring and bland to me! I want it to be different and creative!
Any ideas are welcome !!! 🙂
Thanks!

How far away do you want to go from your reception hall/how much time do you have to take pictures? To get to westchester from putnam is already a little bit of a drive.
Glen Island park in New Rochelle could be pretty, its right on the water and there is an old castle there. Or Lyndhurst Castle in Tarrytown has this greenhouse that looks abandoned and over grown.
There are a lot of pretty places, I guess it just depends on how much time you have to get it all done.

@Miss.E:
We are getting married at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in White Plains at 4pm, our Cocktail hour starts @ 7! So we have some time to move around a bit. She said to think of 3 sites or so along the way or around the area. I love the european look and distressed columns and brick architectures.
Glen Island is gorgeous but out of the way I think!

Alder Manor is exactly that description. It was out of our budget unfortunately. You could also try Ward Pound Ridge. Patriot’s Park in Tarrytown. And the Pepsico Sculpture gardens have an area that is set off and very romantic! Hope this helps. I have plenty of ideas for outiside photo’s but coming up blank on what to do if it rains. Any ideas?

Yeah, glenn island would be to far. What about caramoor? It is gorgeous there! It reminds me of the secret garden, its about a half hour from white plains and than another half hour to mahopac. They have cool looking old buildings, an outdoor amphitheater, and many gardens. Some are very manicured, and than others look abandoned and distressed.

Oh wow! Caramoor is great! I’ll have to look into that. We also found The Winery @ St George, only problem is that it could have a wedding going on that night…It’s a Friday
If it rains, we are SCREWED! Our venue is architectually the style we like, on the outside. It has a new waterfall sculpture and nice stairways…I have no idea!

🙁 So I looked at caramoor’s website more closely…and they have a Fee for Filming and Photos! Does this apply for candid wedding shots?
Photo and Film Shoots
• Fees are $1,750 for the grounds; $2,500 for the Spanish Courtyard and grounds, and the interior of the Rosen House begins at $3,500, per eight (8) hour day.
• Film Shoots can also be arranged; fees are determined after a scheduled conference.
Anyone come across this with other places? I mean who is going to pay that much for an hour of pictures!

I found out caramoor only asks for a $300 donation to take pictures…I could always write it off on our taxes the following year but still not sure…it is gorgeous though…call and talk to the coordinator about the end time!
