I have finally picked the spot for the wedding– a large gazebo in a forest near the beach. It is lovely.
My wedding planner suggested that I try to incorporate the feel of the site into the reception. There is a lot of long, green spanish moss hanging from the trees and also wild huckleberry and pine and I think it would be neat to incorporate some of that in, but I’m not sure how and if it will go with the rest of our decor (tissue paper poms, little fairy lights, lace table skirts).
The moss is particularly interesting, but I just don’t know what a good way to incorporate it into the decor would be. Our colors are dark teal, light blue, and peach.

Perhaps a bowl lined with moss as part of your centerpiece? If you can get ti to hold shape enough, you won’t even need a bowl. You can buy it at Lowes, and you can also buy river rocks, Adding to river rocks among the moss would be lovely!

How about things like these?
Or some herbs?

@Awaken: And you could incorporate your colors into the “little details” of each piece.

When I was looking up ideas for my rustic wedding, I found a picture of a girl who had used sheet moss as a table runner on a long table. If you are doing round tables, you could just use a square of sheet moss under the centerpieces. I wish I could find the picture…

I don’t remember where I “stole” this photo from, so I am sorry to not be able to give credit where it’s due!
I am stealing this idea for my seating arrangements, not doing the moss on top, but thought of you when I read this post so thought I would share 🙂

@Awaken: Have you ever looked at the website Save-On-Crafts.com? There is an entire section devoted just to moss decorations and also the woodsy-themed look you are going for. I saw this section while I was looking for vases and candles for my own wedding.

I love moss and am using it in my wedding. You can do so many different things with it. It can be used in romantic type decor and not just rustic type decor. We are probably taking it a little more rustic. For half the centerpieces, I’m doing wood slices with lanterns on top. With moss going around and some flower heads. We are going to do boxes filled with moss for the escort cards. Something like the idea of this I think, but I’ll have some flowers in the moss here and there and the cards will be different:
Here are some other pics of moss type ideas.

I like this too. You can tell I have way too many moss pics!
On Etsy, there is a seller named Spottedleopard that sells all things moss related. Big initials, numbers, candles, etc. And vases wrapped in moss. Very pretty stuff!

Is there a way to spray the moss (particularly spanish moss) to kill the little critters on them without kiling the moss itself?
