My FI’s family are in Northern Wales, and we are going to visit them over the new year. Last year we went to Llandudno and Conwy, but they were the only places in Wales we saw other than their village. We went all over England, but this time I’d like to see more of Wales.
Is Snowdonia alright for a day trip? According to Google it is a one hour drive from where we’re staying.
We love castles, so castle recommendations are great 🙂

Yes snowdonia is near.
Along the west coast I like cardigan and the beaches are beautiful.
St Davids in Pembrokeshire also delightful
cardiff if you want a bit of Welsh city life.
Towns like Cowbridge are sweet.
Just remember transport between north and South Wales is awful. Windy slow roads and not great public transport. You could get to London faster than Swansea!
Chester is in England but a nice city not too Far East from where you’ll be and good road 🙂

Thank you for your suggestions and the tips on the roads, I’ve got some reading to do!
We are actually going to be very close to Chester, about a 20 minute drive. I loved it last time, we will definitely be going again!

Shrewsbury is a great English town close to the border.
Aberystwyth is loads of fun, quite random but has some fab cafes, pubs, pebbled beaches, etc
But I’m biased because I lived there for 3 years
