I’m wearing a drop veil that will attach with hairpins and am hoping to 1) not spend much on them and 2) have something that is tailored to my taste which means…..(drumroll)….I will attempt a DIY. Just wanted to know if anybody had tips on how to attach jewels and such to the end of a hairpin. Hot glue? wire? I found some nice rhinestone and pearl buttons and thought that i could put the hairpin through the loop in the back of the buttons and then wire the heck out of them to stay put. Thoughts?

@cali_cat: I haven’t done this before, but my guess is a hot glue gun would probably work okay – those rhinestone and pearl buttons sound great! Let us know how this turns out!

@cali_cat: wire, just get small thin black floral wire. When you wrap it, be sure to tuck the ends into the loop/hole of the button or bead that you’re using.

@cali_cat: here‘s a tutorial I was going to use to make fancy pins, called ” hat pins”.

Wire works well. I would not use hot glue. If you need to use a glue then use an epoxy or contact cement. E800 is my favorite because it is low fume and dries completely clear.

Great suggestions ladies! I knew I could count on the Bee 😉
The buttons I’ve been eyeing look like these:

@MissFireFlower: Oh wow, thank you! You sent me down a youtube wormhold of DIY videos 😛 I did see one that looked super easy, apparently they make bobby pins with a flat part that is ready to have something glued on it:
