I understand completely! I don’t have a lot of girl friend near me and my Fiance is just toxic to be around and try to be healthy and exersize at the same time.  I end up doing most of my physical activity by my self.

Well too bad I don’t live in Austin, or else I’d be your drinking AND gym buddy! 🙂

To me, it’s everything in moderation.  I eat clean most of the time, but still have pizza and wine.  I work out a lot… but also have days I slack off.  I’m healthy, at a healthy weight, and can enjoy the finer things in life without feeling guilty.

I dont think you need friends at the gym to have fun and enjoy it. I always just tell myself that I am doing this for me and to feel good, and it is often a time for me to relax and de-stress!

Yes! And Darling Husband isn’t the best to be around when trying to eat healthier. He can eat pretty much anything and maintain roughly the same weight. -_- Plus exercising with him isn’t fun because he gets way more competitive than I like my exercise to be.

Most of my friends are still away at college (non-perk of finishing early) and so it doesn’t make it a group effort sort of thing.

@bells219:  How are you cooking your tilapia? I never have good luck with that fish!

I do some things alone and other things with friends. I love to do training runs by myself, but I want to run races with friends. I like lining up together, sharing the excitement, meeting up at the finish, comparing times, seeing each other on the course, etc. I like to make “friends” in classes; it’s fun to see familiar faces, but I’d never hang out with those people outside of class. Have you looked into local running, cycling, swimming, triathlon, etc. groups. Most communities have some, and then you can join the group runs and things, go to socials, etc. And by socials, I mean, here are hardcore dedicated athletes going out together to do what… of that’s right, get drunk!

I always workout alone. Even if Fiance and I go to the gym together we do everything separately.

@StuporDuck:  Their are lots of ways to cook tilapia!!

I hope you dont mind me answering lol! I find it tastes the best stovetop in a pan with a little olive oil and some good spices! I really like to use Mrs Dash salt free on top as it makes a nice crust when you flip it! I also do a parmesan/breadcrumb mixtures as well and do a light dredge in that before cooking it stovetop! Its a delicious fish!

Have you considered working out in the mornings? That way you get it out of the way and you still have time to socialize after work. (Just drink plenty of water so you can get up the next morning and make it to the gym/trail/whatever).

There’s nothing like walking into work at 9am knowing that you’ve done more with your morning than half the people there.

I feel your pain. I wish I could make friends at the gym. I’m can relate to you, AmeliaBedelia. Most of my friends live elsewhere for now (boo), so it’s a lone effort. My Darling Husband usually goes with me, but we don’t do the same things. He also likes to be competitive, which is so not me.

@misschickpea:  I do that, but my issue is having it turn out too soggy. I just can’t get it to be that nice, crispy texture without burning it! Gah!
