I’m sorry to hear that 🙁

I was on the bee a lot before I bought my dress and got plenty of advice from all the ladies to NOT have this happen. I probably would have been persuaded to buy a dress before I found my “one” if it hadn’t been for this site. (Corny I know). I tried on a ton of dresses, my best friend only tried on 2! Sometimes you find the dress early but it sounds like you are just not loving your dress. What about it don’t you like? Are you able to return it?

I would suggest you go try it one by yourself. Have the ladies at the shop let you wear a veil (if your wanting one) and bring nice jewelry, shoes, and have some make up on (as much as the shop will allow), and do your hair nicely. You don’t need to look bridal, but you should feel good about how you look.

Be honest with yourself, and be realistic about your budget. If you REALLY hate it negotiate with the shop. SOMETIMES they will let you put the deposit to wards another dress by the same designer, but you have to tell them early before the order is started.

This is something that does happen alot. If it was just this past saturday you may be able to cancel your order though, so call the store right away. I went gown shopping with just my mom and even when I found the dress I loved [the 1st one i tried on] I tried on a few more and then left and thought it over for a month. Before going back and buying it again. I personally advise to never buy the dress the right away even if you love it. Unless its about to be discontinued.

@weddingbells44: Just call DB and let them know you are having second thoughts and would like to cancel the order, The VW are taking about 15-16 weeks, The same thing happened to me I ordered my first dress and after a few days thought it was to plain so I called and cancelled I went and tried on a few more with my mom and sisters and ended up buying one that my mom loved. I picked up my dress about 3 weeks ago and it was sitting in my closet I tried it on about 5 times or more at home thinking I would eventually fall in love and on Friday i  finally realized that it was not the one. I called DB yet again and they were great about it I went in on Saturday tried on a few more and found “THE ONE” I placed the order and am so happy I went to look and try on again, So ultimitaly if you know its not the one and it does not reflect who you are I suggest you keep looking. The only things is that you have to exchange the Vera Wang for a nother dress with equal or more value.  Hope this helps and good luck keep us posted.

I felt really pressured every time I went shopping too. The consultants usually make a commission off the dress sale, so they do everything they can to make you buy it right away. It only works in your favor if it’s actually your dream dress, because then you can negotiate the sale. But I actually managed to try on probably 50 dresses before I found ‘the one’. And I forced myself to wait 1 full week before placing the order just so I would be SURE about it. I never had dress regret thankfully, but I also stopped looking completely after placing the order.

@weddingbells44: If you want a copy of the email I sent to my bridal shop when I changed my order I can send it over to you….You can also call the manufacturer and ask them about that particular bridal store and the ease of working with them…ie…have they been able to change orders before.

Yup. I definitely did that. Now I am trying to sell that dress and I ordered another (cheap) dress that I really loved online. Fingers crossed that it works out!

The same thing happend to me. I bought a dress that my friends/family loved and wanted me to get. Later I went out dress shopping by myself and fell in love with “The One”. Go with your gut.

This happened to me, although I think I was the one putting the pressure on myself more than others.  I went to two stores in one day (I know! WTH was I thinking) and purchased the last one I tried on.  I was worried that I would never pull the trigger and decide on one, so I just went with one that I liked.  The next day, I started having major regrets and have had regrets ever since.  The dress has since come in. I’ve tried it on again, and it’s still not giving me the feeling of being “the one”.  I’ll make it work since I have no choice, but my wedding dress is definitely not something I’m excited about in regards to the wedding.

@weddingbells44: I tried on probably 60-70 dresses and even I felt pressured into buying a dress. Although I like the dress I have I am not sure it was “the one” especially after seeing all the lovely dresses on this site.

I believe DB will let you cancel and you can have the money you paid as store credit towards something else, not sure but worth checking into.

For the record that Vera Wang dress is lovely and very romantic and light, I really like it. I haven’t called to cancel my dress and I”m not sure I will. I keep thinking that there was a reason I handed over my card (despite the pressure) and that I am second guessing myself simply because it is such a big decision.
