Ummm… I’m kind of off to a slow start with the Olympics. I was so amped for them 4 years ago, this time I’m take it or leave it. I’ll watch them with my husband probably, I do love gymnastics.

Yup.  As a British bee who’s been bomb barded with it for the last 6 months (although I’ve now left the UK, intentionally) I’ll be glad when it’s all over.  I know a lot of people “working” on it (volunteering, in their stupidity, even Drs have volunteered) and my FB news feed is covered.  In the UK every commercial, every product in the shop, all the radio stations – something to do with the Olympics.  And all I keep think is that £9 billion of taxpayers money got spent, and for what? A three week “show”?  London cannot handle all these people, in fact, London tourism will suffer this year since no one is bothering to go unless they have tickets; I know loads of people leaving the city.  Don’t get me wrong there will be more people there but the theatres etc will suffer.  Allocation for tickets was farcical, most were allocated to VIPs or sponsors – surprise, surprise.  They’ve made a lot of “Olympic lanes” for VIP vehicles, meaning the rest of London will come to a standstill.  They’ve even asked all the companies in the city of London to allow their employees to work at home, because they’ve admitted the infrastructure can’t take them and the influx of extra peaople.

Nope.  Everytime they come around, I say I couldn’t care less about the Olympics.  Whatever.

Not I. I was never into it, just seems boring to me.

I don’t have one ounce of care, and I really don’t understand the hype. I would love to go to London, but, even if I went during the Olympics, I wouldn’t go see any of the events. Then again, I find most sporting events painfully dull.

Yup I am counting the days until it is over. To me it is a colossal waste of money and what really bugs me is that our olympic teams get a free ride to both the games but also to qualifiers etc and often money to train but out paraolympians have to raise their own funds to get to qualifiers and some even to get to the games. It is such a shame 🙁 My work gave a grant to a local resident who was trying to raise money to get to a qualifier for the paraolympics (table tennis I believe) but he ended up not being able to go because he couldn’t raise enough money- since travel costs for the disbaled are often higher as well! Such a shame because he was already ranked quite high and would have medalled yet we send able bodied athletes on the tax payers dime even if they have little to no chance of medalling.

I’m not the least bit interested.

However, I am jealous of my cousin and his wife who are attending the Olympic games this week. I think a trip to London would be sooo much fun!

I don’t and I’m working for them!

My job is on the logistical side (I can’t say too much that may come up in a search as my employer doesn’t like us talking about it online) and frankly, Olympic fever has sent people INSANE!  The rudeness of customers and sheer stupidity of the requests that I’m having to deal with is off the chart.  One of my colleagues ended up having to take two weeks off with stress and anxiety, and begged to be taken off dealing with Olympic customers.

It’s sad because I actually enjoy watching the sports.

@Mrs.LetsGoPens:  I’m a field hockey player, so I’ll be watching that 😉 I love horses too, so equestrian stuff would be interesting … and I love the form of gymnastics and maybe a little envious because I wish I could do those acrobatic things

otherwise, meh I’m not like OMGOMGOMGOMG it’s the Olympics! at all.
