FutureBride625:  i didnt have a theme. I just had a vision in mind of what i wanted and made that come to life. My wedding was very traditional and elegant

Brides who go with a theme, all the power to ya. IMO, super themed weddings start feeling like prom all over again. If I had to pin down a theme, it would antique. We are getting married in an old stately mansion and I don’t have any decorating to do because it’s all time period specific. I’m not saying vintage, because when I think vintage, I think lace. And there will be no lace anywhere. We are bringing in the feel of New Orleans and my Future Mother-In-Law is making really pretty masks for the tables. The food will also be Creole with an option that isn’t spicy. But I don’t think guests are going to walk in and be able to notice a specific theme. Just a few things here and there that is our style as a couple.

Im im the “themes are for kids birthdays” camp. Definitely do not need a theme. Colors/aesthetic/vibe sure, theme… No.

No theme for us either- all we want is a simple beautiful wedding.

Keeping it simple and maintaining peace of mind while planning is our hope. LOL

No theme. When people asked i said the theme is “a wedding”.

I don’t think we have a theme. Just colors and a lot of handmade wood pieces incorporated into decor. We just want to celebrate our marriage!

Glasgowbound:  That’s our theme too! Samers! With a side of “I ate too much, I hope I don’t bust a seam doing the Electric Slide later”

For colours and florals, my inspiration words are ‘opulent’ ‘lush’ ‘romantic’ and ‘unfussy’

I am not doing a theme for my wedding. Our venue overlooks the ocean, but I wouldn’t clasify it as a beach themed wedding because nothing other than the view has anything to do with the beach. Our colors are pink, navy, and gold!

FutureBride625:  I think the word “theme” sounds too birthday-partyish. I’ve actually never heard of weddings having a theme before I joined the bee. I think style, vibe or feel are better things to aim for. Not a fan of when everything is super obviously part of a theme, but thats just me. If anyone can tastefully pull off a themed wedding, all the power to them!

I didn’t have a theme except that I wanted blue to be my wedding color.  I didn’t even had a specific shade of blue.  I had blue bows on my invites, blue table runners, some blue reception decorations, blue and white silk flower centerpieces, blue bouquets for the wedding party.  It worked out and it looked lovely.  My caterer told me at the wedding that he’d been to a number of weddings at out venue but mine was the nicest he’d ever seen.  I just made sure to keep the blue colors subtle and simple.  I didn’t want the wedding look like someone puked blue all over the place.  I suppose it was a “blue themed wedding” but I didn’t think about it like that.  IMO simple ideas often work the best.  Sounds like you’re doing great 🙂

FutureBride625:  My theme is whatever I like and think looks pretty!  I agree that themes are overrated, don’t stress too much 🙂

I think themes can get taken a little too far sometimes, sounds like you have a nice color scheme and feel to your wedding which will all go together nicely.
