I’m going to a friend’s bachelorette party this weekend and it starts off with a pole dancing class. For anyone who’s been to one before, what should I expect? I feel like I’m in pretty good shape but I’ve never actually tried to swing myself around a poll before.
Also, what should I wear? Jeans or gym clothes or something else?

Yes! I went for a bachelorette party once. It was a total blast — just be ready to get over your inhibitions. It’s also a pretty intense workout.
I *think* we were supposed to wear shorts (otherwise your legs slip off the pole)… but I’d call the place and check. Definitely stick to workout clothes, not jeans, since you need lots of mobility!

Ooh yes I’ve been to a few and they’re fun! Also definitely hard work! I first went to a class for a bachelorette party and they go a little easier on you than in normal classes. Definitely wear gym clothes – I’ve found shorts are better because your bare skin can grip the pole easier than if you’re wearing pants.

Yes, I have, for someone’s bachelorette. It was fun, but I woke up the next morning unable to lift my arms above my head. It was definitely a work-out. You have to be comfortale with trying out sexy things in front of your friends. Be sure to STRETCH before attempting anything.
Clothes – the tighter, the better. I wore yoga shorts and a tank top and it worked well as there were no loose flapping clothes anywhere. Don’t wear lotion or perfume though.

Being in shape and being in pole dancing shape are two totally different things. My entire body was sore, especially my arms, and I had bruises all over my legs from the twirls (turns? grabs?).
You will need comfortable clothes, shorts are best (and as the PP mentioned the tighter the better) and a pair of chunky heels. They sometimes have pairs you can rent/borrow.
/Pole dancing is not a talent I can rely on.

Oh love this thread as I have a feeling that’s what my girls are doing for my bachelorette, eehhhhh

I did it once, I wouldn’t do it again. It was rough for me it would have been easier with heels. I wore shorts but it felt odd it be doing stuff like that in a room full of other people. I just blocked it out of my mind. I think if I had one at my home it would be easier.
I had bruises the next day and was sore. I am not in the greatest shape though.

No, but I want to go SO BADLY. I have some friends who have been, and they love it. I was really hoping my BMs would take me to one for my bachelorette, but it didn’t happen (and I had a really fantastic party anyway! My Maid/Matron of Honor completely outdid herself). I’m now a Bridesmaid or Best Man for another friend, and I’m going to try to do it for her bachelorette instead.

Shorts & a tank top- and like someone else said, Stay away from the lotion! It’ll just make you slip right off! I don’t wear heels when I pole dance so that item is really up to you- if they make you feel sexier & your comfy in them then go for it- otherwise I’d forgo them as it can be pretty easy to land on them the wrong way…
And yes, you will def. have a ton of bruises (like abusive type bruises) in the oddest places. So just be prepared to take a nice long bath the next day with some epsom salt & you should be golden! Hope you have fun!!
