I have been absoultely in love with the cloister gardens at the one and only ocean club in the bahamas after going there a number of years back.
I also remember seeing Cindy Crawford’s wedding photos there as well as a few other weddings in some magazines.
anybody here had their wedding at the Cloister Gardens?
If so, give an estimation of the budget of the wedding and did you and your party stay at the ocean club or elsewhere? Also did you have your reception at the ocean club or somewhere else?
That is one place definitely on my short list. Depends on several factors.
I have a nice little short list. All are destination weddings but one is actually very close to home but feels miles and miles away.
Out of continental US: Cloister Gardens, Bahamas, El Conquistador , Puerto Rico. Fairmont Mayakoba, Riviera Maya.
On the beach/marsh and gorgeous but several hours away: Jekyll Island Club, Jekyll Island GA
Close by but feels like so many miles away: Wolf Mountain Vineyards, Dahlonega Ga.

I didn’t get married there…but I remember going to the Clositer when I was in the Bahamas and thought it would be amazing for a wedding!!! Good choice!
Also, my sister in law got married at the Crane Cottage @ Jekyll, and that was beautiful!
Another idea if you want to do Dahlonega is Frogtown Winery- its really cute!
Good luck 🙂

Thanks Ashlop2! You must be kinda close. I’m in No. Ga.
The Crane Cottage exactly! We were down in St. Simon’s/Jekyll and stayed at the King and Prince for a medical convention and we went over to Jekyll and it was in late May. We went to dinner there and then walked around the grounds near the croquet lawn by the marsh/river and saw a wedding there at the Crane Cottage! It was so stunning! I’m gonna have a smaller wedding (I am 39 and an encore bride) and probably no more than 75 people but want something very elegant yet with a relaxed feel. I’ve always wanted the style of old south meets old hollywood and the Crane Cottage at Jekyll Club really exuded that! They also have weddings under the old oak trees (with moss) and that’s gorgeous I bet too!
I’ll check out Frogtown. Wolf Mountain is gorgeous and we have brunch there occasionally. They have a gorgeous event facility that faces the vineyards and the reception area is also covered but open with all walls facing the vineyard and the mountains. Reception area is also open to the room where they store the wine in barrels. You can have a tasting there for the guests too! I am going to also check out Monteluce Vineyards there too! Has a tuscan villa styled venue for weddings and receptions. My guy has a gorgeous clubhouse at his subdivision, but that would feel wierd imho getting married practically at home.
Plus I want to have it really fun for our guests.
Thanks Ashlop2 for that!

I also considered a lot of the places you mentioned including St. Simons (King & Prince and a few other private spots), and the vineyards in Georgia. I absolutely loved each and every location b/c they felt very unique! I am sure that I solicited quotes from each GA winery that I located on the web and I would be more than willing to share ; )
Wolf Mountain seemed very agreeable, but the minimums were a little high for us considering it is at least 2 hours from our home and we would expect a lot smaller group. I really liked Monteluce, but I thought their catering list was very restrictive – only italian. Yet, it seemed very lovely from the photos. A few others like Frogtown appeared to be a good deal b/c if I remember correct, they included some rentals. I have all of my emails saved if you would like additional information re: pricing, requirements, etc.
My sister lives closer to Jekyll Island and always spends time at St. Simons. She really loves the area and I seriously considered having the wedding here b/c it is very quaint. I will warn you that the minimums for some of the areas seemed a little steep if you wanted a higher end locale. If you want info about places in the area I am sure that I could dig up my emails b/c I am such a researcher that I contacted a ton of places b/f I finally decided to rule out Georgia.
I think your wedding will be lovely at any of the places that you listed above! Happy hunting.

I will be contacting you soon Callwed and thank you so very much! There is an "everything but the dress" package at Jekyll Island Club (about 9k)and it can also be tapered down and negotiated. I’m kinda lucky b/c I’ve dealt with already King and Prince (used to be officer of my medical society) and did the event planning there for our convention in 2004.
I saw this april when we stayed there a wedding on the beach (didn’t like it) and the reception was on the ocean front lawn. I would prefer there the small courtyard where the flags and anchor are off to the side of the historical building if it were me and I chose that place. That wedding was small (about 50 people) and was elegant. Reception that is. Ceremony was a bit bland. Gotta be honest.
Thank you SO MUCH Callwed for the offer! i sure could use some help in this area. My guest size will abe about 50-75 guests *unless all the people I work with at hospital go wacky with wanting to come.
