I went for a walk in the woods with my boyfriend and dog behind a local park about 4-5 days ago. I checked my head for ticks but didn’t really look anywhere else. The next night I scratched my stomach and found a freckle sized tick latched right next to my stomach tattoo. I removed it obviously and went about life.
Of course, after talking to my mom she told me the little ticks are the deer ticks that carry Lyme Disease and to keep an eye out. I was looking at it tonight, and I swear it looks pinkish around where I pulled the little sucker off. As usual, my SO couldn’t really see it and couldn’t confirm if it looked circular, but I swear it does the more I look at it. I’m worried I might be overeacting, so I’m going to ask my female office mate for a second opinion. If she sees it too, I’m going to call my doctor.
Has anybody else experienced this?

a bullseye rash would be a good indication, it distinctly has a centre of redness with a ring around the outside. It doesn’t always present this way. It is hard to tell the difference between ticks unless they are side by side really. If you are really concerned it can be treated in the early stages with antibiotics.

@sleepingbeauty88: I honestly think it.s just irritated/infected. Lyme disease isn’t as common as the horror stories would have you believe. I’ve probably had at least 50 tick bites in my life… no lyme disease yet! *fingers crossed*

I had a tick a few years ago on my tummy. Because it HAD bitten me, I had a small pinkish dot on my tummy right where I pulled it off. I kept a very close eye on it because I am paranoid, but the spot went away after a day or two. I never developed the bullseye rash or any symptoms, so I assume I am fine. Likely the spot is just irritated because an insect had it’s chompers on your skin. If it gets worse or is still there after a few days, I would see a doc. MAN, I HATE TICKS!!! *shudder*

Thanks ladies! It’s day 4, so I just gave my doctor a buzz. I have an appointment tomorrow at 3. I’m sure it’s fine, but better safe then sorry. 🙂 Besides, I know he wants me to get bloodwork done anywho.
