hey there! we booked a super cool band to play for two hours during our reception. they are an indie band that does not play covers. my Fiance and i love them, and we feel they will add a bit of our personality to the wedding (we’re going ipod for the rest of the music). anybody else getting a non-wedding band to play at your wedding?

Mrs. Cherry Pie did that! I think it’s a great idea!!

i like the idea! 2 hours is great to have them play, and you will still have enough time to ipod it up so more recognizable tunes get played. Very cool. What band did you book?

That’s what I am looking to do… a good friend of mine has an awesome bluegrass/folk band that would be a ton of fun and definitely dancing music. But not the kind of dancing people USUALLY think of when they think of weddings. But I just think it would be more fun and more interesting than the usual. But I completely understand the need for the recognizable music and so I guess we will try the Ipod route because I certainly cannot afford a DJ AND my friend’s band. Can you tell I’m conflicted? Haha. Good call though djmaddie, that sounds like a good time.

i am worried guests will be like "WHAATT???" but my gut says everybody will have a great time.

ahhh! this is my dilemma too. Except the band will play for the entire time. They are a swing and blues band. I think its great, but I’m worried about the guests.
