This is 22k. It’s also really huge which might make it harder to judge. If you’re looking for color comparisons to other karats of yellow gold, I can take more pics when I get home tonight!

What are you going back and forth between?

I love 22k! It is my favourite gold. I have a few pieces which I wear a lot as they fairly solid and can take regular wear. I have fair skin and I think that extra warmth and richness of 22k looks great with my skin tone. It is a much softer gold so if you are getting a band I recommend a thicker one.

fabulous :  If it is petite then be prepared that it will bend out of shape. A 2-3mm 22k ring just can’t handle daily wear and if it is sitting next to an engagement ring it may wear down there where it rubs up against it. Maybe you can see if you can find darker 18k ( the ratio of silver and copper differs from regular 18k)or even a 20k may holdup a bit better.

22K is very soft–you’d have to be extremely protective of it.

Yes, I do, but just FyI you’ll have to probably order online or get it special ordered at the store. Most jewelry stores like Kay, Jared’s, etc. don’t keep 22K on the floor. Fiance had to place a custom order online through http://www.brilliance.com because he wanted 22K.

I agree with babrorosebud :  you can play with silver and copper content to get a richer colored 18k

My engagement ring is 22k gold; it is the norm over here. The colour is very rich and vibrant. As for the softness, so far my ring still retains its shape after more than a year. I wear it everyday on my right hand and I only take it off when I want to shower, do the dishes or apply lotion. However, 22k is indeed soft so we need to be more careful 🙂

fabulous :  like PPs have said, it’s sort and a thinner ring will bend easily.

My mum’s wedding band is 22k, however, it’s a 6mm wide band and very thick. She’s worn it every day for 47 years, never taken it off at all, and it’s held up fine.

Colour wise I think it’s lovely: very rich and very yellow. I much prefer it to 9k/18k though it is personal preference.
