I’m not engaged..but I do looove looking at potential rings for the hopefully (near) future! I’ve always thought I would want a round-cut solitaire, but after looking around.. I find myself liking the cushion-cut a lot too. Do any of you guys have a ring somewhat similar to the pic I’ve attached? If you do..please post it, I would love to see what’s out there in this style!

I love cushion cuts.
I have a radiant cushion cut solitaire on a pave band and I LOVE it.
The split shank with the halo you posted is really pretty.

I LOVE square and square-ish shapes. I secretly hoped for a princess cut e-ring. but the setting around my round stone is square, and I love that too.
your ring choice is gorgeous. I did read somewhere that a cusion cut can appear (to the naked eye) smaller than a round stone, even if they’re the same carat weight, so keep that in mind. for example, look at this chart: http://www.gemnation.com/images/actual-diamond-size-comparison.pdf
a 5.5 cushion cut stone looks about as wide as a 5.1 round. it’s an optical illusion or something.
but in my opinion, size doesn’t matter, it’s all about great design. get what you want!

@janie-janie: Cushion cuts are actually deeper then princess or round cuts. So even though the carat weight between a cushion and a round or princess may be the same, the actual face size of the cushion is smaller because they are deeper cut diamonds.

I also really love asscher cut.

@janie-janie: I love aschers too. I was going back and forth on whether I wanted an ascher or a cushion. My Fiance wanted to know what I wanted and I told him I really liked both.
He went with the cushion for more facets/sparkle and I LOVE it!
Every time I see an ascher posted on here though I love how you can see straight down into the step-cuts.

I thought for so long that I was SURE I wanted a halo…..but a saleswoman changed my mind when she brought to my attention that a halo is trendy now. She said, “Do you want people to look at your ring in 20 or 30 years and say she must have gotten engaged in 2012.” It made me really think.
Now, my fiance had NO idea of what to get. I did give him 56728904719789 mixed signals like telling him I liked a halo, but don’t NEED a halo if it’s too expensive; I like a solitare, I like micropave. I like radiant and cushion cuts. His head was probably spinning. lol
What he came home with was PERFECT. Although not a halo like you want, it is a split shank micropave. Maybe the solitare will give you an idea…..good luck! I’m sure whatever you end up with will be gorgeous! 🙂
