I’m not sure what your living situation is (I lived with my Fiance before we were engaged), but we combined our finances and looked at what expenses we had.  Then I put these into categories.  Things like rent/housing, gas, electric, water, insurance, car, phone, internet, groceries and other essentials went in one category; and things such as WoW subscriptions, movies, dining out, video games, etc. went into the ‘entertainment’ category.

By cutting things out of this category, we now had extra savings.  We started making all of our meals at home, from scratch (this is way cheaper than pre-packaged), and started having date nights at home (picnic on our deck, brunch in bed, etc.).  I think you really have to just take a look at your spending and see what isn’t necessary.

To save on the wedding, we did a ton of DIY stuff (invites, stationary, gifts, jewelry, etc.).  We also got a discount from our venue on a Fri wedding and for having our ceremony, reception, and blocked rooms all in one place.  I’m doing my own flowers (from Costco) and doing lace luminaries as centerpieces instead of having flowers.  We’re also keeping our wedding party small (2 attendants on each side) and doing a local honeymoon.  Hope this helps and best of luck!
