Not mine I just think it’s cute.

We’re throwing in little geeky touches like naming our tables after fictional spacecraft and doing a reading from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy… and other stuff I’m not really thinking of right now because I’m interneting a little drunk haha… maybe I’ll come back later and add.

If you ever feel like you’re too quirky just go to offbeatbride.com – you’ll be in good company among people who want a wedding that’s a little (or a lot) different! 😀

From “So Long and Thanks for All the Fish”

There was a sort of gallery structure in the roof space which held a bed and also a bathroom which, Fenchurch explained, you could actually swing a cat in, “But,” she added, “only if it was a reasonably patient cat and didn’t mind a few nasty cracks about the head. So. Here you are.”

They looked at each other for a moment.

The moment became a longer moment, and suddenly it was a very long moment, so long one could hardly tell where all the time was coming from.

For Arthur, who could usually contrive to feel self-conscious if left alone long enough with a Swiss cheese plant, the moment was one of sustained revelation. He felt on the sudden like a cramped and zoo-born animal who wakes one morning to find the door of his cage hanging quietly open and the savanna stretching gray and pink to the distant rising sun, while all around new sounds are waking.

He wondered what the new sounds were as he gazed at her openly wondering face and her eyes that smiled with a shared surprise.

He hadn’t realized that life speaks with a voice to you, a voice that brings you answers to the questions you continually ask of it, had never consciously detected it or recognized its tones until it now said something it had never said to him before, which was,

We’re not really having a theme, but we are definately having nerdy touches since we are both huge nerds. One of my favorites is that we’re using book paper for a lot of the paper crafts. All the flowers will be made from paper and we’re using a mix of origami paper, book paper, maps and sheet music.

We’re throwing in touches of Dr. Who and lots of books for our wedding. Probably some LOTR stuff too if FH is up for it. I don’t have any pictures, but I’ve been checking out offbeatbride a lot and have gotten some ideas.

lol since we’re doing red black and silver, I am throwing Darth Vader in a few things. fh has the $50 Vader alarm that lights up, so that’s gonna be set to go off at midnight lol.  he will be sitting on the escort table, with a single rose and sign attached to his saber with something cute about sitting lol.

fh will have Vader cufflinks, GM’s will have storm troopers. I am gonna attach lego troopers to the Bridesmaid or Best Man bouqets, and a vader to the top of mine along with my garter. I am gonna hunt down a large vader lego set, pay my brother to put it together(and glue it), and put a vase to it to hold my bouquet. also gonna make lightsaber swizzle sticks for coffee stirrers if I can. and gonna add star wars table scatter to the midnight confetti drop. gonna try and find satin vader themed ribbon, for the glass votive holders lol. I love the movie Legend with Tom Cruise, so trying to figure out how to blend the 2. or I’ll just add red and white bling to the Vader stuff for a girlie touch.

We had a lot of nerdy touches.

Our groomsmen and my groom wore nerdy cufflinks:

Darling Husband drew me a comic book of our relationship as a gift:

Our vows and speeches included references from Firefly, Star Trek, Star Wars, and the Avengers. We also used music from those plus other shows/movies.

Instead of clinking glasses to get us to kiss, we had guests answer movie trivia questions.

Our “guestbook” was a framed, matted paper with the names of famous couples from movies that guests signed around:

Darling Husband is a huge Star Wars fan as well so there was a lot of that in our wedding,

My garter:

And special guest!!
