Hah my Fiance says that after the wedding is over I”m going to have wedding withdrawal. I do know what you mean; I feel like when the wedding is over, this huge and important project that I”ve been working on for over a year will also be over. And it’s also a little scary, because after the wedding…is the marriage. And it’s not just a big party, it’s the rest of our lives. So I have both a sense of sadness and a sense of anxiety (similar to Ms. Pencil’s post today).

I think it’s sad when brides get so involved in the planning that they feel empty after the wedding. Surely you have other things to do that will feel just as worthwhile as throwing a big party. Career, hobbies, relationships, family, travel, projects around the home….all of these are meaningful aspects of your life.

I love wedding planning as much as anyone, and I am proud on what I am pulling together with limited resources. But it is one of a ton of things going on in my life, and part of me actually looks forward to the day when I can spend more time on all my other pursuits.

I thought that until this week when I bought a house. I am now sitting online looking at bathroom vanities and toilets in one web browser and have weddingbee in the other. I always wondered what I would do when wedding planning was done but I guess I know now. Since you learned and loved DIY project you can carry that on to another aspect of your life.

I am worried about that so I have decided that when the wedding is over I am going to make a quilt. I figure it will take me quite awhile and will give my natural energy something to focus on!

I’m a little sad the planning will be over too. I’m super DIY and was thinking to myself, “Wow – I haven’t DIY’ed ANYTHING in this past year!” Then I realized.. this whole wedding is the biggest DIY project I ever took on. 😉

I can’t wait to get back to having more time for my hobbies again though.

A little piece of me agrees with Twalila. I wish I had eloped. But I am a darn good planner, so I know the next project I take on after the wedding will fulfill me the same way this is right now. I kind of live to plan stuff like this.

I can’t wait to be done.  To be married, yes, but also to just be able to focus on my marriage, my friends, my family.  I am proud of what we’ve done with our wedding so far, but man, I will be happy to never have to make another save-the-date or place card in my life!

Mine’s not so upcoming but not so far either. I’m not sad but I am so nervouse about the guest list an who is going to show. My side is pretty much all out of town friends or in town family that are definitely coming but his side it’s all over the place and I’m nervouse about who’s going to be there for HIM on our special day, I want him to feel just as special too!
