I have been looking for my wedding gown but can’t seem to find one. Is there any designers that just do Plus size? A little confused. I have heard many horrible things about David’s Bridal and do not want to have to end up going there for my wedding gown. Any suggestions?

Maggie Sottero has a great collection of dresses and with a whole size selection. I found my dress through there.

I don’t know of any designers that ONLY offer plus size dresses, but all the major low to mid-range designers make their dresses in up to a size 28. A few have special plus size lines, too, like Mori Lee’s Julietta collection.
I’m not sure what to tell you if you need a size larger than a 28. To my knowledge, even David’s doesn’t carry anything above 28. The good news is, however, — larger wedding dresses do exist. I saw 5-6 size 30s at a bridal salon I visited. I don’t recall the designer, but perhaps some other Bees can help if that’s your concern?
Hope that helps! And good luck!!!

Have you looked at Alfred Angelo? They do have his collection in plus size.

I actually had a decent experience at DB. The consultant who helped me was also plus-size, and she was wonderful about the styles she pulled for me to try. I did not buy any of the dresses I tried on there, but I did end up ordering mine off of their website, an online-only style. I love it!
I’m sure you’ll find something, as the others said, there are lots of designers out there who do plus-size and special plus-size lines. Good luck!

Nearly every designer goes up to size 28. But that is not a street size 28. Sydneyscloset.com has plus size formal dresses, including wedding dresses. You can check http://dressfinder.com which has links to every wedding dress designer in the US and UK and see if you find anything. Your other option is to have a dress custom made by a local seamstress.

Aurora D’ Paradiso is a strictly plus size bridal designer. Size ranges from 14-32. Measurements are very close to street size, so if you wear a size 20 Jeans you will most likely need to get the same size gown. GOOD LUCK!

I am a street size 14-16 and ordered my dress from Maggie Sottero – and I love it. My bridesmaids dresses were from Jenny Yoon and my sister ordered her size 28 dress from them. Here is my size 14/16 self in my Maggie:

I carry gowns up to size 32, which, as another bride noted, probably fits about a 28. I believe Bara Luxe is the only line I know of that carries only plus sizes. But many lines, like Sincerity and Allure have a woman’s line. These are cut differently (some may argue better!) than lines that are just bigger sizes of the same dresses for smaller brides.
If you want more info on finding samples in your area, I’m happy to help 🙂

I was just watching wedding show on WETv and they were talking about Disney weddings. They mentioned Kristie Kelly has Red Label line which is Plus size.

The problem with David’s Bridal is not so much the dresses, as the customer service. Unless a store has sample gowns in plus sizes, it can be awfully hard to figure out from a size 6 sample gown what your size 28 in that style will look like on you.
We ended up with both a David’s Bridal dress (mine) and a David’s Bridal veil (NotFroofy’s). However, we bought them from a consignment shop, with a very helpful consultant who had an eye for what would look good on each of us. If you have consignments shops in your area, that may be something to consider. That way, you get to try on the exact dress you buy.
