Ebay. You can get one from one of those Chinese vendors, and they actually make them to your measurements (still wanna leave some wiggle room though! 😀 ) They’re around 200-400 dollars that way.

Also, check local thrift stores. The dresses there are a lot of times dated, the wrong size, or need fixing. But you never know! Sometimes you may find the diamond in the rough! 🙂

Check Davids Bridal they often have a 99 dollar rack.  Also, when i was getting married almost every salon i went into had a “clearnce rack” floor samples etc.  Go in and ask every where i bet you find something really nice and fitting a disney wedding.

Check out The Limited’s line- they have some great inexpensive wedding dresses. Also I just discovered the online only dresses at DB that are really pretty for $100-$300 (whose dresses I usually dislike). Going the chinese replica route is another great way to save $$$, and you’re not so limited in what you can have…

Can you get to a ‘Running of the Brides’?  Alternatively, ask for samples at bridal boutiques.  I found my reception dress for $300, the original price was $1000. It was being discontinued.  Many a bride had tried it on so it didn’t look sparkling new, but nobody noticed!

Have you checked out local second hand stores?  We have several that are bridal dress and gown specific.  I havent checked them out myself, but I have also heard you can find dresses at the more traditional salvation army stores as well.

Also call your local bridal stores and ask if there is a sample store nearby. There is a store near us that sells their samples in an “attic” and you can get great deals there.

i can really, really recommend j.crew, especially when they have sales. the dresses are high quality materials, very reasonably priced plus with the right accessories can be nicely dressed up. i am going to wear the sofia in silk chiffon with a handmade crystall and rhinestone sash (look on etsy and ebay) and love the light feel of the silk for a summer wedding! whole outfit for under 200$. good luck!

@Ms. Polar Bear:  I am selling my wedding dress.  Worn once and then heirloomed.  Size 6 petite.  Beautiful gown fit for a princess!  $199.  If you e-mail me, I can e-mailed pictures.  [email protected]

Check the classifieds on here. You can also check oncewed.com and preownedweddingdresses.com (I frequented both when I was dress shopping). Like others have said, thrift stores are an option, though I didn’t have any luck going that route (my one friend did, though, and found a gorgeous, unique dress in just her size for $20). David’s Bridal has inexpensive dresses as well. And I once read that sometimes dry cleaners have dresses that people dropped off but never picked up that they’ll sell to you for the price of the cleaning bill. I never tried that, but it could be worth a shot? AND sometimes you can get a sample for really cheap.

Basically, it may take a little searching, but for $500 you actually have a lot of options. I found my preowned (but never worn for a wedding) for $300 🙂

Try checking out the fancier bridesmaid dresses. Most can be ordered in ivory or white, and some of them even have trains. I bought mine for $205! Plus they don’t take as long to come in as a bridal gown, I was told mine would arrive in 3 months maximum.
