So Fiance and I already have 2 daughters together, they have his last name. We’re getting married this September and I don’t want to change my last name. Fiance is ok with this although he has expressed that he would like it if I changed my last name and that people might think it’s weird that I have a different last name than my husband and 2 daughters. But I really want to keep my last name. Anyone else having this problem?

@millielue: yes. I did a thread last week about this. Fiance thinks it’s weird to have different last names. Doesn’t bother me one bit. I came to the conclusion that I am going to wait until a couple months after the wedding to decide. Here’s the post. The other bees had really good things to say about it!

@MrsElopement: Thank you very much! I’m taking a look at it right now 🙂

I struggled with this one for a long time, 6 months after my wedding I decided to officially change my name by making my maiden name my middle name, but I totally still go by my maiden name in most worlds…I now answer to two names!
There’s nothing wrong with keeping your own name – my mother did. We did frequently have to answer silly little questions like “What happened to your father?” 😛

I did not change my name and my Darling Husband is fine with it. And surprisingly his family, which is quite conservative, is fine with it as well.
I’ve only had one person have negative things to say. No one else has said anything to me.

I will be hyphenating our last names

I’m not changing my name, and I know from experience that it’s not weird for kids to have a different last name from their mother (or their father for that matter). It’s really, really not weird.
