I was looking at getting into bookbinding because I suck at scrapbooking. 🙁  If you haven’t already, you might ask around at some local craft stores.  A place about 2 hours from me does classes, but it’s a little to far me to drive once a week.  Also, these websites might not be the kind of bookbinding that you are looking for, but they might be a place to start.

P.S.  The last link is to the Hand Bookbinders of California website.  I found out about the classes near me by emailing them and expressing some interest in getting into hand bookbinding.  They had a lot of great resources, and may be able to help you even if you’re not in CA.

I took a class on bookbinding at the Paper Source a few years back.  It was very small and personalized, and definitely did not cost over $40.  It’s a really fun project, but I definitely recommend taking a class to gain expertise in the area.  Have fun!

You should email my sister Talia. She has just gotten her degree in book-making and print arts. She made my wedding invites and also has hand-made tons of different types of books. Her contact info is on her website, http://www.flockofgoose.com. I’m sure she can help you out in terms of where to get supplies, books, etc.
