Heck no it’s not too early! I already started attending bridal expos to get an idea of what I wanted. I feel like the more time you have to plan, the less chance you will just rush into something that you can’t afford. Plus I really think vendors might take advantage if you tell them you have a close date. So I started looking at different styles of dresses and found one  I LOVED on Say Yes to the Dress. Then I started looking for it. Then by chance I actually won one (exactly want I wanted)from a website doing a contest on FB!!! But I want to try on dresses still. My BFF/ Maid/Matron of Honor told me I’m crazy, but hey, if this is the only chance I will have to experience wedding bliss, I’m going to enjoy it to the fullest! So Shop now and shop around!

I thought it was too early too, but about a month ago my mom and I went just for fun…No plans to buy anything. But I had the moment and I bought mydress! It will be hanging in my closet for a year…but it was perfect and I couldn’t leave without it! So far we have the venue, photographer and venue. Is it 2013 yet????? I’m ready for more planning!

I got engaged last month, and I already have a list of about five dresses that I love. I’m 99% sure that one of them is the ONE. I’m waiting until this fall/winter before I start making any appointments (I’m in the process of losing 15-20 lbs) and I don’t want to end up buying a size or two bigger than I need then paying a ton of money for alterations.

@kn8973 Yeah I know… It was maily my Fiance that was keen to get things booked as when we started looking at things we were struggling to get the dates we wanted as they were so busy! Also with the photographer and band it was by chance. One is a family friend and the photographer is a girl we met by chance and saw her work and loved it! I can’t wait till the dy! Even my Fiance has one of those count down things on his phone and randomly tells me how many days it is until the wedding. Love it!

Definitely not too early. I bought my dress at the end of February and we’re not getting married for another year.

Oh no, not too early at all!  I’ve been out dress shopping twice…the 1st time by myself and the 2nd time with my mom.   so now I have a sort-of idea of what I like, and I also know what SHE likes…. and I’ll have to reconcile the two!

I need to get back out there and hit up more shops, I want to get my overall style/look down before I start really stalking dresses!   I liked the first few I tried on, but not sure if its really love, or just like. I won’t know until I try on more though!

I haven’t tried on any dresses yet but I have been looking! It’s such a big decision so I think we should take as much time as we possibly can. I don’t plan to buy my dress till about February though.

@robinsparkles:  With a December 16th 2015 wedding date you have plenty of time!  So many styles come out twice a year.  I’d wait if I were you.

@BellaDee:  This is important to take into account…on the other side of the same coin, if you love a dress out of a current collection, I’d try it on because it might be gone by the time you start looking!

My dress that I just purchased last weekend was from Watter’s Spring 2011 collection. My guess is that shops may stop carrying it soon to make room for the newer collections, and I didn’t want to miss out on it, so I went ahead and bought it.

And because i am so obsessed with it…here are some pics 🙂 Sorry if this is threadjacking, I just love it so much I have to show someone, and I dont want to show friends and family yet!

@radishtime:  You look beautiful!!!  For a 2013 it definitely is OK to look…There are no rules with that.  But I was suggesting that the woman with a date over 2 years away…may want to hold off, to an extent.

the last couple weeks i have become reaaaaaaalllly antsy to try on a dress…

sadly i have not met my arbitrary weight loss goal to start trying them on yet (9 pounds to go!) also i am really worried that if i start too soon, ill become overwhelmed by choices. i dont think its crazy though. we all have less than 450 days til our big days!!

I bought mine September last year after much uhm’ing and ah’ing – 20 months before the wedding! I don’t think there’s a “perfect” time to buy it, once you bump into the right one you’ll know. Just make sure you don’t leave it til a week before the wedding!
