Yes I did, and his thoughts lined up with mine.

My Fiance pictures a dress style (not even wedding dress style) from basically an early 2000’s prom. Apparently he’s never seen any other floor length gown lol. Don’t think I’ll be taking his advice!

Heck nah…We have totally different taste in clothes, but I knew he would love the way I looked regardless.

I asked him subtle things here and there when I was shopping – he never had a clue what I chose until the wedding day, and when he saw me he said I looked stunning, gorgeous, and that there wouldn’t have been a more perfect dress for me. <3

Yup, I asked him. Even though I have my dress, I still show him pictures on pinterest or whatever and say, “Do you like this one? This one?”

He really likes the ball gown/a-line look. Lace looks “too old”. And it has to have sleeves/straps.  Well, mine’s all lace, strapless (with attachable straps, but still), and a trumpet. I know he will like whatever I show up in. Oh, it also “has” to be white, which it is, but I keep putting ideas in his head that it’s blush or light blue. I love screwing with him, and I love that he lets me, haha.

yep! though all he said was “sleeves”. For a while I was looking into sleeve options for my dress, but I was overruled by everyone who saw the dress.

I made the mistake of asking him after I got my dress. Actually, I think I tried to ask him before, and he wouldnt tell me because he didnt want to sway what I might like. But now that I have my dress he’s all too happy to tell me! He likes mermaids and fit and flares apparently.

Something like these.

Annnd this is my dress… Oops.

@SamanthaLovesJames:  YUP I did AFTER I bought a dress…hahah I don’t recommend doing it after but asking before.

I bought a beautiful mermaid gown, MOST GUYS don’t like mermaid gowns FYI and he has always pictured me in a princess gown, so I went and bought one and now I have 2 gowns.

By the way 90% of guys I talk to picture their future wife in a princess ball gown walking down the isle…Maybe because of all the movies they have seen?  Who knows..

I did, but only after a girlfriend of mine told me that her Fiance had strong opinions about her dress.  My Fiance on the other hand had no opinions at all!  He was much more interested in how I felt when I tried on dresses…he kept asking me if I felt like a “bride” and if it felt weird…haha

I haven’t started dress shopping yet but I asked him anyways. He told me he doesn’t care, and followed that up by telling me he wants my shoulders to be showing, no lace (or minimal), no ballgowns (he wants to see my figure), and he wants it to be a bit sexy. Haha, quite the opinion for someone who doesn’t care!

I asked him long ago and he said “white”. Yep, that’s all.

I prodded a little more, and he decided he prefers something more fitted than a ball gown. That’s all I could get out of him!

And indeed, my dress is white and fit and flare. That’s what I wanted though, regardless of his desires.

It took some convincing to get his opinions because he wanted to be surprised, and claimed he didn’t have an opinion. I showed him a few sites, and boy did that change. No opinion turned into no mermaid, no one shoulder, not too blingy, not too plain. Granted he told me that whatever I liked he would be happy with because it would be me in it and not the model. Luckily we have the same taste in dresses, so I ended up with something I am certain he will love!

No, I don’t really think it’s anyone’s choice but my own.
Then again, I bought the dress with no outside help or consultation, and it’s not a traditional wedding dress. So that might be another factor in my opinion – I didn’t want/do the usual shopping-with-my-friends-and-family thing – I’m terrible to shop with so it would have sucked for everyone.

He also has made it VERY CLEAR that he doesn’t want to see or hear about my dress, to the point where he hasn’t gone in my closet for a year (since the dress is in there).

I’ve asked him if he has an opinion and he says that he’s sure I’ll look beautiful in any dress.
It wasn’t a very useful opinion, but it was a nice compliment. 🙂

I did and we liked the same kind of dress. He wants something a bit more modest in the front but loves having a complete open back and slim silhouette

I did. He said “I can’t really explain it to you, I just envision you walking down the aisle in a beautiful white dress and looking like my wife”. My heart swooned.
