Fiance always told me that he envisioned me in something simple, not vintage-looking, not very blingy, not ivory, and not poofy.
Aaaaaand I ended up with an ivory fit-and-flare decked out in sequinned lace. LOL. And the runner up was a poofy ballgown (although I originally thought I would not like poofy dresses either). Whatever, he’s still going to love it.

He likes lace and strapless, but not super poofy. My gown will be VERY full, all lace, and have straps- I do NOT have the cleavage to hold up a strapless dress.

I asked him what he wants and he said poof. I told him straight up I’m not doing ballgown because as much of a girlie girl i am I’m 4’11” and that would swallow me up. I have designed my dress and will have it made (still considering different options) so he only knows 2 things it pink and not ball gown. I showed him several styles and he doesn’t care much he likes most but loves the styles that shows shape. Imma pear shape girl and he loves my curves and it took years for me to fall in love with them along with him so a trumpetish shape is what I’m going with.

I did <3
It was/is very important to me that Fiance likes my dress.
But, when I asked him what kind of dress he saw me in, he said, “a white one?”
Haha. He is so clueless. So I showed him pictures of dresses and thankfully we have similar taste. 🙂

Haha, no. I have no intention of asking him anything, or telling him anything about the dress either 🙂 I might show him a fabric swatch but only to be able to match his shirt (I look hideous in pure white so ivory or champagne gown is a must for me). We actually had a talk abotu this and agreed that wedding day wear will all about me but wedding night wear will be all about him. All in all, a pretty good compromise, right? 🙂

I asked her what kind of dress she wanted me to have because her vision of me is just as important as my own so I wanted to know what she liked/didnt like. Straight out the gate she said anything even remotely princess-y would make her puke.
She wanted something sexy and something that showed my body but still bridal and I found the perfect one!

@SamanthaLovesJames: I did, he wasn’t too picky. He just said he didn’t like dresses that are too big and dramatic/showy. He likes form ditting and classy.

@cirk: ooh I can’t remember! I did try it on in the store and the shape of the top was just not flattering at ALL. Like the cups were really long and really rigid? if that makes sense haha. I will look and see if I can find the name though! 🙂

I know what he doesn’t like. Sleeves of any kind or anything big and poofy. Luckily I have a sweetheart fit and flare!

He doesn’t like anything fancy. He likes plain, straight, white dresses. They remind me of what older women get married in or typical beach wedding dresses. I like mermaid, tulle, heavy beading, illusion neckline etc.
We have completely different tastes. I’m gonna buy what makes me smile.

@SamanthaLovesJames: I picked the opposite of what DH thought he wanted but he loved my choice!
yup. he just wanted something that was form fitting. i kind of took his advice. its not big and its pretty form fitting until the waist. but i wanted to know what he wanted

I know what he likes, anything that would show off some shape, especially the bum area! But I did have him look at a couple of pics of different gowns after and he said he liked one that looks similar to what I chose, so I’m happy.

Originally, I asked him if he pictured me in a “big poofy princess dress” or a slimmer dress. He said he had no idea. Then we were sitting around one evening and I was looking at dresses online and asked him about a few that I saw. I discovred that he is not a fan of sleeves or straps in any way and he doesn’t like ruffles. At the end of it he said that he would love whatever I choose and to choose the dress that I love. I’m just glad I got a little feedback from him so I have an idea of what he would like to see me in.

Mine said “Uhh…something white?”
After giving some examples, he said not something big. Which is good, because I’m petite and a ballgown would swallow me. It sounds like he’ll be a fan of trumpets, which is my favorite stye.
He did, however, say that he wants the material to be smooth when he hugs me…..but I love lace. He’ll get over it.
