Anyone been induced? I’m so anxious!!!

My water broke at 38+2 but my contractions weren’t getting closer and my OB wanted baby out within 48 hours to avoid infection so I was induced and it sucked so much. Super painful (but LO was also sunny-side up which causes back labor so I’m sure that contributed a good deal). I was in labor about 43 hours before beautiful baby boy finally decided to make his appearance. Hope things go more smoothly for you…! 🤞

I’ll be 100% honest with you. Every induction I’ve seen (for a variety of reasons) has ended in a c section.

All of those ladies have gone through several days of labour first.

im pregnant with number 2 now and if they tell me I need to be induced I’ll be asking for a section up front (might not get it on the NHS) but that is my choice.

obviously there are lots of reasons to attempt a natural birth and it is an easier recovery.

BeeinBlush :  none of those are guidelines I’ve ever heard for an early induction. I had a horrible experience being induced and would never allow it again. I ended up with a c section. I would ask specifically what the risks are to you and baby if you wait. I have to deliver early at 39 weeks due to GD which can cause premature aging of the placenta.

My sister was induced with both of her children. With both, she labored for 24 hours or less and both births went smoothly. She said the pitocin makes the contractions more intense but not unmanageable with an epidural.

You will do great, Bee! Congratulations!

BeeinBlush :  Good luck with everything!! Fwiw my induction didn’t end in a C-section (since PPs mentioned that). But if LO still hadn’t shown up for several more hours, who knows what would’ve happened.

BeeinBlush :  could you delay the induction? It’s still your choice and you don’t HAVE to be induced if all is looking ok.

BeeinBlush :  Keep in mine I was highly favorable for an induction and requested it. My induction was short and smooth. It was painful and I did get an epidural but I never thought it would be more painful than natural labor. I loved that it was planned, no surprises. I would totally do it again! (This was baby #1).

marriedbeeexpecting :  In case its not obvious, my induction did *not* end up in a c-section. I have friends who had inductions and also did not end up with c-sections. (They were rated as less favorable for an induction).
